  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Contax Zeiss Survival Guide

In other news it looks like those pics I took of the boxer a few pages back are going to be used in national media which I like to think of as a small victory for manual glass and no flashes and a couple of old arri 650s. :)

Even a bigger victory when you were hired to do sound, weren't you??!

Congrats!!

You're super talented. And deserve it. Can't wait to see more!!

Still not bought one of the macros yet. Missed out on a good looking one on eBay because of a phone call. It ended up going for next to nothing!

Yeah the 60mm just ends up being used a lot. Not sure why. I guess cuz we shoot btw 35 and 85 so often, the 60 is just the right focal length. I rarely get to 100. Also the 60 is bit easier to focus with. The macro fall off is more subtle than with the longer 100mm, and Ted my DP feels more comfortable with the control of 60. I gave him a 200m F4 FD macro to play with recently, and he was like "this is too crazy to focus with....give me the 60 again!"

hahaha yep absolutely I was hired for sound!

Thanks man. Much appreciated. Means a lot coming from my lens and filter svengali!

Was planning on a whole line of these 3D printed ultra primes built around contax lenses.

I ended up abandoning the project after my friends 3D printer died. Used it a couple of times to round out a Rokinon kit. It attaches to the lens with set screws, the front attaches to step up extension tubes so it doesn't rotate. I used it with a clip on mattebox once but it isn't recommended

Tom I love this. Shame you abandoned the project! So cool looking!!!

ahh okay. I've not heard of anyone swapping out the OLPF in an MX camera yet.

Hmmm....I don't believe there are multiple OLPF's for MX, my assumption is MX all use the same OLPF. Perhaps Chris had to replace his OLPF for some reason, and got a factory "new" one to install?

Only Dragon, as far as I know, has multiple OLPF options (V1 and V2), with more options to come (V3 "Goldilocks", Infared, etc, etc)

best

Maybe only the OLPF-Frame, which needed too be changed for some mounts like the Leica-M mount?
