Contax Zeiss Survival Guide

Hi, just a quick question. Can anyone comment as to whether or not the 50 1.7 has a stop at f2 or is just 1.7 and 2.8?

Thanks.

Does anyone here use the allstar lenses mount with the contax? I recently got hold of two very fine specimens of yashica lenses. A 25 and 135 mm. I contacted leitax and he told me that his mount will not fit even though these lenses have a C/Y mount. I tried contacting allstar but had no reply till now. I like his idea of a universal mount but am not sure it will work with these yashica lenses. I dont want to buy the whole kit only to find out they dont work with them.

@ Andy:
To be precise, the 50mm f1.7 has a stop at 2.0 (if not declicked), but no mark.

Here's a recent film I shot and cut for XCAR. In addition to my single Red, budgets meant myself and my one co-shooter ended up having to use 8 different types of camera on the shoot and sadly matching them was pretty impossible, especially as we couldn't light car interiors or anything as they were driving at race speeds and it would be dangerous. Also I detest Gopros and their shitty dynamic range. And I don't think a 7D has ANY place being on a proper shoot in this day and age but them's the breaks.

Red Scarlet - Used Contax 35mm f2.8, 28-85, 50mm f1.7 and 85mm f1.4
Panasonic AF101 - w/Voigtlander 25mm f0.95
Canon 6D - Contax
Canon 5D mk3 - Contax
Canon 60D - Contax
Canon 7D - Contax
Gopro 2

Nicely shot and edited. Interesting content, too. In the old days before average speed camera we just used to hare round the countrysides. Brands Hatch was always my fave track to go to as a spectator. That first corner with the right hander into the downhill was always a guaranteed crash spot.

Cheers Paul. A million things I'd have done differently if we'd had more control/budget, but yeah Brands is an awesome circuit. Doing the tracking shot of the car for the track guide you realise how steep that hill is as we nearly fell out of the back of our tracking car and loads of loose stuff from the dashboard went out the back flying past our heads onto the track. Terrible attention to health and safety :)

Kirk, exactly which 25 and 135 do you have? I have a 25/2.8 AE and a 135/2.8 AE, and both have been fitted successfully with Leitax mounts.

Hi Tom - I have exactly those two lenses - I shall go ahead and buy the leitax then. No other mount compares to them.

Did you have a hard time contacting rplens? I sent him an e-mail twice but no reply now and its been already a couple of weeks.
