Hey,

I'm doing a shoot this week where I am practically in the middle of nowhere without any form of a generator to charge to batteries.

What is the best way to get as much time out of the battery as possible?

Thought of the obvious thing of switching off the camera before every reset or at any opportunity. However, I've been told that switching the camera off and on can drain battery power.

Any advice would be helpful,

Thanks in advance,
K

the batteries are gonna be eaten up no matter what you do, leaving it on or just turning on and off. I'd like into solar panel chargers, rent more batteries for the day that have extended charge on it, including battery bricks and so on. The bricks are probably your best bet, having a couple of those may last you all day. Switchtronics also makes a v mount charger that can hook into your cigarette lighter that gives accurate voltage now.

Related - when the battery is not being used for weeks at a stretch should they be charged often or should they be left to drain and then charged just before a shoot? Thanks

good question, I also would like an answer to this one...

you can also bring a deep cycle 12volt boat/car battery and wire it up with additional wiring. Worked well for me in AK on some timelapse shots a few years ago.

The shoot went okay but for future I think this might be the best option. Going to check out that V Mount Charger as well Tom.

Cheers Guys,
K

If you mean weeks by more than a month, I strongly suggest to be left drain
