  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Complexity...

For those of you that can't quite comprehend the complexity of what we are trying to do... consider that there are 70 boards and 11,000 pieces on an EPIC-X (with modules).

Just food for thought while you are waiting...

Jim
out of curiosity man.. comparing w/ red1?

What?! I thought it was just an ASIC and a sensor in a fancy metal box with a few staples holding it together.

;-)

Post some pictures of the brain.

That might help us understand the Complexity...

That's just not possible until the 28k Epic 645 is out. There is no camera that can resolve all those bits and pieces that go inside at once. :tongue_smilie:

Jim,

At NAB two years ago, I walked up and introduced myself as #2973. Long before I had my RED One in my hands I knew that there would be an explosion.

As my RED One increases in capabilities, I am quite content to wait for my Epic-X.

Make it right. Make it the way you want it. Then let me get my hands on that puppy!

Well, even once they get all the "boards and pieces" together, its not like its then released... for then comes TESTING! whee, then back to rewriting... I'm not holding my breath for too long (only in very short contained spurts, as when the Red1/EPICX comparison render)

OMG! The gaffer tape alone must weigh a couple of kilos  I just hope nobody shuffles anything before you get it all together.

Take your time, the R1's fine (until the new cameras ship that is - then I want one!)

Might go faster than we think if all goes well with the ASIC.

I wonder how many of those 10,000 parts are capacitors.

Quite a few actually. But they all need to go into the right place and behave themselves. :-)

Yea Jim, that's all fine and dandy... but will the new Epic cameras have an option to shoot in H.264 ?????????? It's either that or nothing for me..
