So I made this little chart for myself, and thought I'd share (see chart below). Feel free to double-check the math, but I think i'm right!

My reason for doing this is simple. In an earlier thread, Marcus Friedlander very smartly said:

It's misleading to think of 6k as only 1 "K" bigger than 5k. A more accurate way to look at it is that 6k is more than 30% bigger than 5k. And as someone who shoots 6k VERY frequently. I can confidently say that the extra 30% makes a HUGE difference.

And that really made me think. Because he has a point. Sometimes it's easy to get numbed by the K's, and you loose sight of just how BIG 6K or 8K is.

So I crunched the math. And here's what I found. Pretty fascinating when you look at the naked numbers!!

Hope this is useful. Again, if anything is wrong, just let me know and I'll update!

DSMC2 CAMERA COMPARISION: by Resolution/MP

WEAPON 8K = 35.4MP (8192 x 4320)
45% more REZ than Weapon 6K (ie = almost TWO Weapons!!) (1.82x the data)
61% more REZ than Scarlet-W (2.56x the data)
72% more REZ than Raven (ie = close to FOUR Raven's!) (3.58x the data)

WEAPON 6K = 19.4MP (6144 x 3160)
29% more REZ than Scarlet-W (1.4x the data)
49% more REZ than Raven = ie TWO RAVENS!! (1.95x the data)

SCARLET-W 5K = 13.8MP (5120 x 2700)
28% more REZ than Raven (1.4x the data)

RAVEN 4.5K = 9.9MP (4608 x 2160)

Weapon 8K is 35.3894 MP (Mega PIXELS of bayer data...) Not MB, maybe go back and correct the terminology in your post above... ;-)

Ahhh FACK. Knew I fucked up somewhere. And it had to be YOU to spot it!! Haha.

Updating now.

Hahaha thanks for the shoutout Nick!!!! I'm honored!!!!!

Love this chart! Can't believe that 8k is that freaking huge!!!!!! Now I get why Jarred has been saying how insanely hard it is to manufacture these cameras.

Haha. My pleasure!! You made some great points, and I honestly couldn't stop thinking about them. So kudos to you!!

Yeah - 8K looks INSANE. When I made this chart...that's when it dawned on me how completely NUTS 8K is. WOW!

Wow!!!!!
Thanks Nick, puts it into proper perspective.

Nick, your percentages are off. 100% MORE than x = 2x = twice the amount.

That! Also remember that roughly 20% of the resolution goes away after the debayer has been applied so the numbers will vary for effective captured resolution.
