compact light stands

[Tony Peck]

I'm traveling for a documentary and I trying to shrink the size and weight of my kit. I'm looking for some compact light stands that could support a Kino Diva-lite 401.

Thanks,
Tony

can prob get away with something like these http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/253069-REG/Impact_LS_96HAB_Air_Cushioned_Heavy_Duty_Light.html

diva fixtures weigh about 15 lbs

I have a couple of these http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/33465-REG/Matthews_B389788_Medium_Duty_Black_Kit.html that I use sometimes with Divas. Good enough for sit downs. They're very much like the kit stands Kino has in their kits. Check the height.

+1 on Hugh's suggestion-- those Matthews medium stands are very good, and are the lightest I'd go with a Diva. Hope you're going to sandbag them as well. (I'd also recommend the Matthews Boa bags as travel sandbags: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=matthews+boa&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ma&Top+Nav-Search= -- they weigh what they weigh, but are more compact and easier to wrangle into luggage.)

Can vouch -- used Divas on these stands before. One thing to note is that it stands taller than most kit stands when folded up. Make sure the folded minimum height is cool with your setup/cases.

Quick tip on traveling with stands and tripod. Get yourself a soft side golf bag. You have to stick to the weight limit, but they don't charge oversize fees with golf bags. Some people put one light wight golf club inside so they can say they are actually carrying golf clubs. I've never done that, and never had a problem.
