  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Combat RED

Well, a bit of a necropost, but I thought it would be a fitting finale to my original quest.

While the recruiting side of the military I worked for was excited by the possibilities, the side that controlled who goes where never grasped the concept of dedicated higher quality filming. Even still, the small amount of footage I was able to capture during my 2008 deployment has been used in a number of documentaries and independent narrative films, including this past year's Afghan film "The Black Tulip", and coming this summer on ABC a new series: "Combat Hospital" for establishing environment sequences (you can see a couple of the shots used in the promo, the show is shot on Alexa and colored by Deluxe so it should be interested to see how they choose to grade the R3D's).

The driving factor on every request has been the resolution and the aesthetic of the footage, which proved my theory on the even immediate usefulness of modern footage shot with the future's history in mind.

I've had a lot of help and favors by this community along the way and I wanted to say thanks, and let you know that what the footage has accomplished was close to everything I'd hoped; in addition it inspired a great deal of the up-and-coming military cameramen along the way. The Scarlet/Epics will certainly usher in an unavoidable new era of in the field reporting options and I can't wait, as well a huge thank you to the RED team for making this all possible, you are a truly inspiring group.
