Has anyone figured out to export DPX from Color to import to FCP/Gluetool and conform them using Clip Finder or something similar?

Still haven't figure this yet. Doing it manually.

What surprising thing is though, DPX out of Color pasted directly to FCP timeline with GlueTools DPX setting, plays back out of BMD pretty much realtime.
Good enough to assemble online to prepare for DI.

Kaku,

How do you manage to work with DPX back "in" FCP ?

I thought FCP couldn't do more than 8 bit in RGB...

I'm reconnecting one by one, select a clip on timeline, reconnect with the DPX file, check to see if it's okay.

Never realize about the 8-bit limitation, gotta check that out. What about when using GlueTools?

Also, I figured by exporting EDL, open the EDL with word processor, then replace the names from proxy to the names that are generated with DPX. I wonder if that works okay.

Hi Kaku,

It seems FCP can't render 10 bit quality in RGB color space.
It's perfectly OK working with YUV material in YUV sequence when using render setting "High precision YUV"" or render "10 bit material in high precision YUV".

...but if you render RGB files in High precision YUV (in a YUV sequence), then sometimes it shifts the gamma values...(ie AJA Kona RGB 10 bit codec gets lighter once rendered etc...)

So to keep correct gamma, you often have to use RGB sequence...but in some circomstances, you'll see banding because of the 8 bit RGB rendering limitation.

Needs to be tested by experts.

Hello Anton,

What if I'm using GlueTool DPX to render out?
Worse cases I guess I will try to put together on After Effects but I have to figure out how I can load DPX files out of Color. It comes back with read error.

Not tested, but maybe roundtriping with crimson would work. My thought is - fcp xml into Crimson roundtrip xml into Clip Finder and there conform as you wish.

On vaication can not check it now but surely when I come back.

Karilla,

Did you see Bob/Gluetools' post about comforming tool that he's releasing?

Sorry I didn't have time to search and link it.
