Next 200 - Expect an email from RED early next week with payment instructions, etc.

Thanks, BC

Wow, thanks for the update, christman is here and thank you very much REDteam, that you listen this close to redusers.

"Gus". Unfortunately he is no longer, wonder if he got too cold! :cold:

Had to laugh about Finners comment, but to me, despite the spontaneous reaction your friend seems to really have been a good one. Look at this dogs beard!
Didn't want to say the dog is cool, but obviously he was at least that time the photo was taken. Cheers to Gus Isaac.

This quick action on Red's part shows just how powerful our community is and what an awesome method of product development Jim has invented.

I don't think those suntanned California boys even believed people would go outdoors at -20C, let alone spend 12 hours shooting in it! I'll bet the testing fridge is the coldest those guys have ever been :-)

Nice work, everybody! We're really building something great here.

This will be the longest weekend ever... Now let's talk payment options. I hear we cant pay with credit cards over $6500? The rest can be wire transfer?

Any idea how long payment processing will take and packing/shipping? Best case, order email comes Monday, wire transfer Monday, payment processes Tuesday, ships next day air Wednesday. And we got it on Thursday/Friday. A one or two day delay spells arrival the following week. No fun for the weekend. :(

I'm speechless! :w00t:

Within 30 hours Jim was convinced by the community, the problem was acknowledged, a solution was found, and a schedule for updating the next batch of cameras was put up.

This is unheard of!

Kudos to the RED rebels and their leader! :sorcerer:

What schedule are you talking about Willis?

1 big question. Is -20c the coldest you were able to get the lab down to to test or was colder then -20c the failing point of a cold camera booting?

It would be great to get an answer to this.

Thanks

We actually got it to boot colder but we are being conservative...

Jim

What about humidity? I know there are limits and I don't expect it to boot up in a sauna and work, but....

We don't have specific tests done yet, but Soderbergh put the cameras in bags in Puerto Rico and they were dripping in water from humidity. They never failed.

Jim

I love professionals.

Well put. All what matters is the final result. You know, in wildlife photography some seem to explain the shortcomings of their images as if the outcome became better if the audience knew how much sweat or frostbites there were behind the photos.

It's great RED did not accept excuses but instead took the effort to sort this out. Probably a rather small step to RED but a huge save of trouble for the RED users.

Needless to say, it's amazing that this kind of business exists!

Amazing response to the cold boot problem. I've always had faith, but the fast turnaround continues to be incredible!

What about condensation? Going from warm relatively humid interior to sub-zero cold exterior? Obviously an issue with tape mechanisms, but how might it affect a RED ONE?

I understand the interior isn't directly open to the outside as the ventilation is via heatsink. If the weathersealing keeps air from moving in or out of the interior, then it shouldn't be an issue I think, but be good to know for sure.
