Must be tough to stay in the refrigerator for a couple of hours with a camera.... :)

Hey ! Quick enough for sure !

very good news!

Very professional.

new threads pop up while I respond to outdated posts. if only my fingers would thaw...

Thanks Jim, great response. keep it going, do I dare ask for -30C? I know, we always want more...

Thats a cute shot of you and your wife Isaac. Whats her name?

You said in an earlier thread that bootup times would also be dramatically better after fixing the cold issue.. Any news about that?

I believe he said that they could "...improve booting and shooting in the cold."
http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?p=120889#post120889

which is ambiguous, but I'm guessing he meant that you would be able to boot up in colder weather than before, not that bootup would be faster than before. I'd be happy to be wrong, though.

Congrats on making the camera much improved so quickly! To echo Finner, it would be great to know if -20 C is as low as one camera was tested, or if that should be considered a "best case", or "typical" performance for all cameras?

206 hasn't gotten a wire notice

206 hasn't gotten a wire notice

Not to derail this thread (great news) - but has anybody from the next 200 gotten a notice to wire money? Because I haven´t.

Jochen

sn 206 hasn't gotten a wire notice? I have gotten other emails but I'm going to call or email to find out if I missed it.

This is a delay I welcome. Though I was disappointed once in a while with the delays I gotta say, this is an awesome change, because it makes the cam so much more versatile and reliable.
Great you found the part that was preventing the cam from booting at low temperatures. And now I am gonna make a cool snowboard movie. Even me.

Very good news. The stability of Red gets better.

Are the next 200 cameras on track for delivery before the end of the year however?

Keep up the great work!

Very glad you were able to catch this and get it resolved before the cameras went out the door Jim. This is the kind of feedback loop you just gotta love!

Very cool (pun intended!) upgrade. This should make a lot of people happy. I remain amazed by the dedication of the folks at Red to deliver a quality product.

No mail, nothing, -7 days to delevering for -20 degrees is a good deal, if we would know -7 days from what?

Great news. I am glad you are fixing the cameras as best you can before you ship them. It is a lot easier to recall 100 cameras than 1,000 cameras.

If someone has a project they absolutely need the camera for, RED could make some cameras available to early reservation holders that are in a bind. Might be easier than sending out hundreds when there are still known problems.

Personally, I am excited about all the new improvements and accessories.

Now this time I'm realy happy that I dont have my camera already.
I live in Switzerland and -5 C is not realy cold for us. We dont bother about -20 C while we film some snowboard action. All the cams I have ever used never had a problem in these conditions. So first I was shocked hearing about the problems with RED. I was very close to pull the plug. If you live in California then you probably wouldn't care that much but for us Swiss dudes camera problems due to cold teperatures is a deal breaker.:cold:

So this shows me once and for all that Jim and the gang are realy pushing it hard. They want this baby to be perfect. They realy never stop.
If they know the problem they solve it.
So now I believe more than ever in RED. Will there be some new problems, of course, but now I see how the RED team goes after them. This gives me a lot of confidence.
Keep on fighting you are almost there guys.:)
Tim

Next 200 - Expect an email from RED early next week with payment instructions, etc.

Thanks, BC

Wow, that was quick !

Once more, thanks for listening, Jim...

Yeah?? That was really quick

I am not going to question it but I just say Thanks for address the cold boot situation. -20C˚ cold boot without external help seems reasonable enough. As for the delay in shipping, well, it's not a delay. And before there is a bunch of complaints, stop and think how much more reliable the camera will be , think about the immense credibility Red is building and think about there ability to stick around and not fade away as a fad because their products couldn't stand up to the pressures of production. We I would lick to see Red succeed.

We will all be happy in the end.

I met with my business partner today and we are still going to make the Red Hot casing we discussed on the other thread. It will be good to not keep the camera so cold anyway. Plus it will have other uses.
