  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

cloudy Bomb EVF picture

My EVF is milky and has this green / magenta issue too....I told this to RedEurope and they told me to send it back to Pinewood.
I guess they can do something...

I so want to order a Bomb but with all these issues it seems pointless purchasing a product that doesn't work.

Only wish Red would fix this.

Well... If you get one of the old with the right firmware, they look better... as long as it isn't too cold...

LOL

I never liked how large the old one was... too cumbersome.

Its pretty sad that the recommendation is to purchase a old one when the new one doesn't work.
Crazy!

The BOMB does work, works great, I use it daily... several of them.

The only problem is the blacks are a milky... Everything else about it is awesome!
Any other problems other than that, Send it back.

They fix that milky black problem up and there is not another matching product out there better than it.

I guess that is the point... why buy a product that has an issue when that issue should be able to be fixed but no fix is forthcoming.

I am also interested but waiting for someone to clarify if this is being addressed. If someone from Red would chime in, it would help sales of the Bomb.

Thanks in advance, would love to add this to my package.

i'd like to see in a next epic firmware controll menus over the evf and lcd.
evf: heater on/off, dark detail, open gate, smooth mode (hertz) -almost same as the red one.
LCD: smooth mode, pressing button 1 and 2 at the same time to lock/unlock the lcd
(same goes for the sidehandle)

we have bombs on all cameras but hardly use them with the current situation.
we need a module adaptor with a second monitor port and HD-SDI

i dont really need that bulky I/O module, i like the epic as small as possible.

Can't agree more.

I get this weird color shift, when I focuspull. As if, when things go into focus, the whole black-level kinda shifts between purple'ish and blue'ish. It jumps between these. At certain focuspoints. Very abrupt jumps. There's no "glide"´ing shift. Just a jump.

But the viewfinder, of course, has no way of knowing, that I shift focus, so it has something to do with that when certain areas get into focus and "get detail", then things happen.

This does not always happen, but I think it mostly happens in darker situations. I think it happens more when using the Focus assist (sharpening function).

I´m using a Scarlet.

I got my EVF back after 5 weeks out. Red Europe has send it back to the US for a fix.
Now the contrast is really better but the green / magenta shift is still here.I have a really small color shift when contrast is set to zero. I can live with that.
Anyone with such a problem should write to his Redteam before complaining on Reduser...sometimes I guess some people just do the other way...
Don't forget to ask your Flareguard, the difference is huge in back-light condition.

I had nothing but good communication with Red Europe, thanks !

Just wanted to ressurect this thread. I finally got my +1 adaptor - so after almost two years of my EVF sitting on a shelf I was finally excited to use it. Then was gutted to see the absolutely horrendous image quality with respect to the problems discussed here. Cloudy low contrast image. Just horrible. I have filed a support ticket. I am running Build 4.0.12 - so I don't think this is a thing firmware could fix - or it would have been done by now? Has anyone discovered any other possible solutions?
