Was shooting a dark scene a few days ago. And there were two large hot spots in the room pointing over two bed.
Actors were dressed in solid white.
I was being careful not to underexpose and not to clip.
I was shooting at T/2.8 and the highlights were at T/8
From what it seems, I don't think that going 3-stops over should have clipped.
Did I meter it wrong?
I do realize that maybe I should have done a spot meter check for the reflective white clothing. Was that my problem?
Also, in RedCine-X it looks like the Red One we have was shot on the standard Red Colour/Gamma. Which has contrast. But since its metadata, I didnt think that would be the reason why.
Unfortunately the Red One had no monitor that we could use for a waveform or false colour or anything. Only my lightmeter
