Hey hey all... I just re cut my 2011 reel the other day... It's a mix of Red Epic, Arri Alexa. 5D and Weiss Cam...

FEEDBACK MUCH APPRECIATED as I picked up a camera for the first time, 3 years ago and have been workin HARD out here :)

a bit too much speed ramping in there for my taste, but that has nothing to do with your actual camera work of course.

I got a bot carried away on the wiess cam stuff with the ramps when I was cuttin and now I been too lazy too change it ;)

Thanks for the kind words...

Wow 3 years, huh? Seems like you've had some pretty high profile clients in that time. Did you get in with a production company, or do you just freelance? Were you reasonably established in the industry prior to 3 years ago?

I guess you shoot a lot of music stuff, is that niche the thing that has put you forward for these larger clients?

Nice work!

I grew up in Kansas and landscaped mostly... A community collage film class in San Francisco @ 26 sparked an interest in film... Three years ago I was in LA workin here http://www.orangebone.com/htmls/store.htm :(

I got fired from the puppy store when a new owner took over, bought a Sony EX1, took an ad out on craigslist here in LA under creative services calling myself a DP for $150 a day. I have been freelance ever since... I would have to say that one of the more challenging and deterring things for the first couple years, was consistently showing up with all my camera gear and tripod strapped too my back because I only had a motorcycle. I do feel that I have made some progression but also really feel like I still have such a long way to go...

Now that I feel some what packeged up http://www.AviCohen.net ;) that I might approach some production companies or something like that..

As for the procuring of "larger clients" I feel that raw talent and ability only account for a very small portion of success... Shear drive and determination is what I feel like separate the men from the boys, per say.. That being said, even though, I still have a long way to go, I feel like any luck I've had in any arena has come from preparation and hard work...
