Need to get this of my chest and it's long.
You could also just jump to the end and see my conclusions.

So basically this all started with a nice and honest Group Buy here on reduser, I got the discount and got a Wireless Follow Focus kit as announced.
At first I was happy, things ran smoothly and found that the functionality was good and build quality OK.

After a couple of weeks I started encountering some hiccups on set: the controller lost it's connection with the motor, the rod-clamp didn't sit tight enough and eventually the wing-nut fell off.

Then after a year the controller started acting strange. When rotating to infitinity it suddenly rotated the lens backwards to close focus. Tried all kinds of solutions but concluded together with the support (they where pretty responsive at this time) that it was the controller that had to be sent in since our mini-controller, the Espresso, didn't have this issue.

So it took quite a while for me to get a response on the controllers status, after almost a month the concluded that it wasn't possible to fix it but that I could buy a new one instead, so I paid the 600 dollars to get a new controller - even though I really think they could've fixed the old one for a reasonable price, as I said it was just a year old.

With this new unit I also asked for a new rod-clamp -> 19mm <- which I purchased at full price

So I've been unable to use the kit fully for almost two months now.

The new controller came with the wrong rod clamp ->15mm<-, still no biggie since they acknowledged this mistake pretty quickly and sent out a new one.
Then they wanted me to return the 15mm one using their UPS account, so I filled in the long protocol which I found a bit irritating since it's a inexpensive piece that needs to be sent from Sweden to China because of their mistake but I did this any way just to be rid of the hassle.

And this is where everything starts going sour.

On it's third shoot the controller get instantly super hot and starts to let out smoke! The AC was furious at this since he was almost injured by the pure heat that came out of nowhere.
I was so frustrated by this and with Cinegears overall so I wanted to return everything and never use it again.
They didn't agree on this and wanted to check the controller.

This is where my colleague makes a mistake, he sends the controller to China without using their account, he sends it by himself and forgot to add a tracking ID.

This was in september and to this date we haven't heard anything about them receiving the controller. This is totally on us (even though it sucks that things get "lost" so easily).

So at this moment I'm without a controller again which of course sucks. By now I've already bought the DJI Focus because of sheer frustration with Cinegears products.

But then, two months later I get a invoice stating that I should pay UPS 200 dollars. I'm totally confused by this because it couldn't be for the controller since it wasn't shipped using UPS. Then I remember: the rod clamp.

When I sent them back the rod clamp I used Cinegears account and did everything according to their instructions.
Do remember that this was because they sent me the wrong one and asked me to return it.
Then they refuse to pay for the shipping, they refuse to pay for their own mistake!

I mailed them straight away and asked them why they refused to pay for the shipping.
They replied that it was too expensive...
I replied that thats something between them and UPS and its really shitty to put that on me.
They replied that they've talked to UPS in the US and that UPS made a mistake labelling the package as express even though it clearly states on the package that it was standard, thus making it too expensive. BUT that the US UPS can't do anything since it was their Swedish office that made this mistake.
So they said that I should call the Swedish office explaining everything.
I found it really annoying that I should waste more time dealing with this, that a company like Cinegears can't afford a 200 dollar shipping fee and that if they find it to expensive they should take this straight with UPS.
But since it was me who eventually got their invoice I had to call the Swedish office.

So after a bunch of emails I reluctantly call UPS.
They say that Cinegears is wrong, that that's the cost of shipping a standard package between China and Sweden.
Frustrated I mail this to Cinegears and first they don't respond and then they say it's out of their hands.
I reply asking them just to pay the stupid shipping - since it was their mistake in the first place.

By now it's taken a couple of months and they've totally stopped replying.

Now UPS has taken this to the Swedish Repossession Service and it's now 300 dollars and I'm facing legal actions.

Cinegears still wont reply.

- worst costumer support ever

- childishly avoiding their own responsibilities

- seriously bad build quality

AVOID!

They are up their with DJI as having the worst customer service ever! I have had to wait months for a response or corner them at NAB at their booth to get a response.
I had a really bad stepping issue on my unit and they made me pay for it to be replaced even though it was defective. And to top it off they shipped both motor and espresso finger wheel back to me with no bubble wrap loose in a box. Naturally they came back to me with a bunch of scratches and dents.
I have to agree. There are better options out there.

I would not recommend doing business with them. Particularly since I said good things about them initially, and then they totally dropped the ball even after I offered to help them solve their problems.

Oh don't get my started I have had nothing but issues you get what you pay for it works until it breaks and then worst customer service!!! I had a motor and controller go down and spent 3 months waiting on a RMA email to send it. I bought another one and then the motor went out again and that was it!!! Never again and I hope this company closes up shop cause they don't deserve any professional business. People just need to stop making and buying cheap gear, it bites you in the end!!!! I got one email and that was it called and emailed and nothing!!! Not professional and not cool!!!

Guess I was lucky. When I had some problem in the beginning, they came back to me quickly and solved the issue via an email exchange

I would never buy CineGear after buying their wireless follow focus. I was one of the early buyers and it lasted a few months before losing signal. The best they could do at the time was to tell me how to change the channel on the wireless, which didn't help much. The signal strength just kept getting shorter and shorter. To the point where it had a 1 foot range. So I bought the mini controller which gave me back 50 feet. But after 2 jobs started loosing signal again. So luckily I just returned it to b&h, and told them it was basically useless system and they quickly gave me the refund. Sold the wireless system for what I could and warned the buyer of the company and how useless the system is. Love my RTMOTION though. That never failed me, and let's jus say I get more then 1 foot of signal strength!

Can we make this thread a below a sticky so people can read this before buying?

Cine gears also makes Secced tripods

Cine gears also makes Secced tripods

Sent me a tripod head with the worst backlash I have ever seen. After a week of back and forth they put a head in a cardboard box with no packing material that was smaller than the head. They were surprised that I was not accepting a tripod head that was busting out of a box as a new replacement. Every aspect of dealing with this company was frustrating. Cine gear claims to have a US office/service center-NOT TRUE. They have a US address that is actually a freight forwarding company 1.5 miles from the US/Canada border. The office appears to be on the second floor of a strip mall in Richmond, BC. This doesn't stop them from using
the phrase "serviced in North America" over an outline of the USA....they are in Canada....they are misleading, or lying- both are bad.

is that tripod from the group buy?

Yes, I contacted Secced.

However, after:

-problems with their website ordering
-being billed for items I was told would be included
-problems with sending Secced emails
-problems with Secced’s phone lines
-problems with website item descriptions
-discovering that they are NOT in the US but have a freight forwarding company that is used to send items to Canada.
-having my credit card compromised shortly after doing business with a Chinese company that claims/misleads/lies about being in the US that is actually in Canada.
-receiving the head with backlash
-receiving a internal spreader that does not function COMPLETELY with the tripod
-taking a week to tell me that the tripod head would be replaced
-SENDING ME A REPLACEMENT HEAD IN A BOX THAT WAS SMALLER THAN THE HEAD WITH NO PACKING MATERIAL!!!

I decided that "There's no such thing as a good deal on a bad product."

So back to North America/Pacific Northwest/CANADA it went……

Oh, I’ve also been ghosted by: Tom, Nathan and Bill

All I wanted was a good“B” tripod.

Chris - did you ever get ahold of your Cinegears contact?

I was in that early group buy, my unit arrived with faulty motor, i did get swapped eventually. Barely used the unit as i have little faith in it. Worst company i have ever dealt with.
I will never use a single one of their products ever again.

Guys I hate to say this but you get what you pay for, don't buy 2nd rated gear cause it will bite you on the back end or worse on set. Everyone is trying to save money and you spend more at the end. These new companies that want to play with the big boys but can't cause of the lower quality and poor customer service. I have a box full of broken gear and spent a day just going thru it and it was like almost 2-3K of gear that didn't last long or just did not work.

Still nothing Chris?

I've pinged a couple of times...nothing. Have no idea what's going on. Typically they answer me at lightning fast speeds. Trying to get them to address you guys....frankly, it shouldn't have even gotten to this point.

I saw some forward motion on my particular front. Hoping that follows through to full resolution. Thanks, Chris, for providing the nudge it needed.
