RED #0031. The busiest RED ONE in the industry. :)

Way to go, dude.

Great stuff Kosmos3d!

Have you been to the Bahaha Cantina latley?

Dave

Hey Kosmos,

We did a very similar piece with John Cusack a while back. Forgot to post about it.

I say similar, no singing but had a similar backdrop and it was a political message for a website. You can see it here, albeit as per usual a crappy low res horror

this is how it is done in hollywood particularly with A list talent

this is a small crew.

That's crazy...good for the crew that got paid. I hope they got paid well for that shoot.

Would you know the budget they were dealing with?

Curious

I think you could probably have nixed the art dept since its just a blank space, there's nothing to design , in fact I think you could have had half the crew and done just as good a job ,way too much padding for such a simple end product. no offense

i did not produce it, i just provided the camera, pulled the data, advised on the exposure, showed everyone how sexy it looked, replicated data and left.

it was a solid 10+ hour day...more about it later.

Good job, simple and plain...but sweet & cute at the same time.

Kudos to you, dino...

what you need to know is this was not the original backdrop, it was supposed to be a swinging chair as if it was on a sprawling deck in the summer time. but for safety reasons they nixed the wooden chair that was hanging off a lighting grid 30 feet in the air. it was a baby after all in her arms and they were concerned with the 1 in a million chance that all safety measures failed and god forbid something happens to christine and her baby.

so the extra crew revolved around that "set" and the need to build it, and light it, when that set was scrapped 4 hours in, it was too late to send everyone home, so there actually was a lot of sitting around that day. christine did not show up for hours and hours, there was a stand in there for most of the day and then at the last minute she showed up, and then after her position, height, angle to camera ...was locked, she left to go nurse her baby, so again a lot of waiting for this gig...

she did many takes, and there were variations n the length of the song, the tag lines, so forth and so on, so it did end up being a fairly long day.

i will say that she was extremely kind to me and my brother whom was helping me that day, she came over to see the footage and the color corrected footage and since i have a new born we ended up talking about babies and baby products....

it was good fun.

"I think you could have had half the crew and done just as good a job ,way too much padding for such a simple end product."

i assume you are deciding the crew size & 86ing the art dept simply by looking at the photo's ??
it's all not simple ... you don't know the requirements of the ad agency nor the talent ...
when you work with A list you do NOT cut corners, you run with a FULL crew ... if one cannot accept that then IMO you'll never be working the A list ...

yes I know ad agencies pad everything and add their cut on every rental and every person. doesn't make it right, its not about cutting corners , its about the agency padding to fill their own coffers and then taking a seperate fee on top.

and yes everyone wants to be seen with a crew of 50 on everything if you have a high profile person involved. but the point is still its shockingly wasteful. I'm not getting into a pissing match with anyone. this is why I've no desire to shoot anything in LA. its also why studios are going to places like prague and bulgaria to shoot movies to bring down costs or you can call it cutting corners if you like. I wasn't attacking kosmos3d, he's a cool dude, his work is great and he didn't produce this thing. I'm sure his own projects are as lean as can be
