Cheap eyelight

Hello,

I am looking for something cheap, fast to setup and compact that can serve as a eyelight. So does not have to be bright as I will be dimming it down to not change the mood in the scene. But looking like something like a 1x1 litemat (but waaaay cheaper). (Foamboard is also a option, but that requires the light to bounce on it + does kinda look cheap for clients).

Any suggestions?

The aputure MCs work very nicely as a little eye light. I have taken to mounting one on the steadicam or the matte box. Can be dimmed down to whatever works. They are small however, so it's a point source ding. For a larger reflection I usually do the biggest bounce I can get close to camera. 4x4 bead board usually.

I use the Aputure pucks for this. And yes I'm still calling anything in that form factor puck lights

But yeah, easy to power externally, have an internal battery, often bi-color or RGB stuff depending on model. Last a good amount of time on a single charge. Built well too.

yeah something like this looks great as they can be tad bigger then "pucks " only for a eyelite still quite expensive, something at max 100$ would be great. Or maybe there are some 1ft led tubes around that price(as tubes also have an interesting reflection).

An interesting note about Carpetlite. I am a big fan of the Falcon eyes version of these lights. I never knew what they were a copy of, but it sure looks like they were based on the Carpetlites. They did make some unique improvements, among them their 18x24" version being able to go directly on an 18x24" solid which makes it very friendly for a c-stand. They make many sizes from 12" up to I think a 6x6'. Really hard to beat for value. mine have been going strong for several years now. Out of 6 I had one power supply failure, but I attribute this to an electrician dropping it from a fairly decent height and having it's fall arrested by the feeder cable.
