I saw "Up" in "Disney Digital 3D" last week. I'm not sure if it was a 4K or 2K projector, but the images of the 2D trailer for Disney's forthcoming Frog & Princess movie were the clearest and cleanest images I have ever seen on a multiplex screen! Wow.
But one thing that ticked me off was that the theater charged me an extra $4 bucks for 3D.
I thought the whole idea was to give audiences something more, so they would have a reason to depart their 1080p bigscreens and actually get out to the theater? It seems like the movie execs never miss a chance to be greedy. Does it cost them anything extra to show something in digital 3D? I mean, they are saving money on a chemical film print.
