Hi, i copy CF Cards on external Hard Drive thrue Firewire 800 using MacBook Pro. For going more fast i split two Lacie 1TB external Hard drives, and plug it in to MacBook Pro, and making two backups at the same time. But i mark that sometimes after copying i have a drop frames in my rushes, and it wasnt before on CF Card.
Is it a problem of split hard drives, and if yes, what is the best solution to make backup, for to make all copying at the same time, and dont copy twice, on local drive, and than on external hard drive?

Thanks

I had the same problems, a pain in the ass ..
What CF reader are you using?
Mine was the Lexar (http://www.imaging-resource.com/NPICS1/LEXAR_PROSERIES_AMS_CF_READER_1_L.JPG)
and the problem seemed solved by copying directly to the Desktop and then copy to other hard disks.
I also suggest using R3D Data Manager. Although slower than using the Finder you make sure that everything is perfectly copied.

With the CF cards you really need to be using some software that will do checksums to make sure you've backed up your data correctly. Otherwise you'll end up with this scenario from time to time with the CF cards. Doesn't seem to happen as often for me with drives though.

Another thing I've noticed is that if you eject a CF card, the activity light should turn off on the CF reader. If it stays on, then I always unplug and replug it, and doing so has stopped bad transfers from cards.

Tim,
Mine doesn't turn off the light... even if i eject the CF after ejected from Finder.

What kind of software can you recommend?
