Monstercine 3-Way QuickKeys now come with a nylon stand-off adapter, giving you the option to use QuickKeys with the Red Handle for quick releasability, which means fast adjustments without tools. Just a few turns of the sliding handle to loosen/tighten and throw away the Allen wrench. www.monstercine.com

Quick Keys fit any 1/4-20 threaded hole and are ideal for replacing any Allen screw for fast releasability with great leverage. Quick Key are machined from solid Stainless Steel, available in raw or black finish(prone to scratching).

If you have already ordered the QuickKeys and would like a set of inserts, please contact gretchen at monstercine dot com, tell us how many you need, and we'll mail them to you at no cost.

Special thanks to Zak Forrest.

Jim,
Keys are great....well done.
Just a thing thou...nylon washers collapse too easily, resulting in lack of pressure being able to be applied to Red handle plates. This allows the Red handle plates to slip. Any chance of having metal washers.

Dave,

Dave, Are you using all 3 washers stacked? Metal is on the horizon, but in the mean time I suggest using a piece of tube as the insert. It was a temporary fix to solve the problem for some users, although we've not had them crush in our handles... yet.

Those with Euros LOVE our prices, and since we're entirely manufactured by hand in the US, it's not going to get any cheaper to make custom cameras parts anytime soon. For the Quick Keys alone, which we designed from scratch based on user requests, it took a solid month just to figure out how to manufacture them for that price because of the complexity, custom small parts, hand assembly and that troublesome square hole! Regardless, our parts are made of the highest grade of Aluminum and Stainless and we'll replace any part at any time at our expense, plus you'll have the new part(s) the next day if needed. It all costs money to provide well-built parts. The parts are free. Customer service is what you're paying for.

You're the first price complaint we've had since inception so we'll keep going and hope the economy keeps us all afloat. For every part we sell, there's about 2-3 man hours involved from the idea, design, prototyping, testing, ordering, promotion, manufacturing design, manufacturing, hand assembly, sales, packaging and shipping before it gets to your door.

We hope you try our products and you'll see why they cost what they do. And you'll probably still be using them in 10 years because they last.

Thanks Jim. Yeah I'm using about 5 washers. the nylon will give at a certain pressure which is less than the pressure required to prevent movement on the pressure plates.

On another note was there a work around for your focus arm to work in conjunction with the ET EVF mount?
D

ps: the keys are perfect quality.
I've forgotten the price as they're soooooo useful. I'm sure we have some economies of scale concerns here...but f_ck it....they're great bits of kit!!

Dave,

I'll let you know as soon as we have the inserts in stock. Not sure if you know, but they are not intended for use with the side handles(not needed), only with the Red Grip handle as in the photo.

We have a working prototype mount for the EVF that we shoot with, that's basically an elongated spud with an arm and sliding groove with a modified Quick Key. We hope to post prototype pics soon. The entire kit mounts in our Hydra clamp, works great and will cost about 1/2 of the ET version.

We'll also be releasing smaller, smoother Quick Keys soon to replace the key in the Hydra to give more leverage.

Jim,
I got some washers made up so you I can use your quickkeys with the Red handles.

I suspect there is a design fault with the Red handle friction plates and you need to apply a lot of pressure on them so they don't always slip a few mm's.

Anyway I wasn't able to do this with your quickkey + metal washer, but was able to do it with the standard bolt/allen key.
Dave

ps: big picture ain't it!!

Dave,

We use the keys in our handles with the nylon washers without issue, so I'm wondering if your Red handle might be stripped??? Does it have the teeth between the two pieces as our does to keep from swiveling?

Thanks for that.
Just checked it with a friends and found the mounting on the my friction plate is faulty. tightened up the 4 screws but no change. Will send into Red. sorry for confusion. Thanks for the help!
Dave
