They are but don't go with them, unstable cards.

For context.

Christopher had a very unusual issue with 4 cards apparently. Unusual even if they were extremely low grade cards.

I don't care what people buy, but keep in mind there are many thousands of Komodos out there and likely several times that in AB/RED media. Whether it was the cards or not, Christopher's experience is a game of numbers.

AB is one of the few companies who makes certified media for both RED and ARRI. I own several brands, I have no issues with AB and I have done extensive PE testing for that matter.

Thanks Phil, so no differences between the RED branded cards and the AB cards, same manufacturer, same specs, except for the RED logo only, confirm?

Yes. RED has tapped Angelbird for "RED branded" media. Which it states on the product page. Currently both CFast and CFexpress.

Be aware though that there are several models of each media type, best to verify exactly which one you're after. More of a consideration when buying for V-Raptor in this case as higher speed media is what's required to hit the higher data rates of V-Raptor.

I'm not alone in having trouble with Red-sold cards though.

I understand this. The question is, let's just say there's 120,000 cards out there in the world, pretty sure it's actually several times that even. I think I've seen maybe 10-15 posts regarding any issues across CFast users, not even just Komodo people. In your case all 4 of your cards developed some sort of issue all at once, which is indeed bad, but also a massive curiosity as to why.

I own about 3 dozen AB cards and haven't had an issue in the years I have been using them.

And part of the reason I own AB cards is their 3 year warranty if there is any issue.

Four cards acting with the same problem is not being unlucky, it's a probability factor that points to the fault being Red selling me rotten stuff. If other people who also bought the same cards get the same problems, it points to the probability that there was a batch of bad stuff being sold by Red. Support just blanket statement me with requesting me to send in everything, including the camera, shows they don't know what is going on.

In the end, it doesn't matter, the probability of being "unlucky" is so low that it's an irrelevant factor in this matter. This is clearly a fault from Red's side and I'll probably have to pay for it as the warranty is so short that the card's fail-time is longer than the warranty. Red needs to be more reliable than this.

Actually if it was a batch they would know by your serials, just like anybody else. All AB's cards are tested from what I understand. I'm very curious what did actually go down in your case because it is so unusual. The fact they are asking for "everything" means they need to test everything to figure out what is going on.

3 years is a good warranty when it comes to media. I wouldn't purchase anything with 6-1 month however.

Whatever the case, I'm certain they'll get your resolved and sorted.
