  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Still working out the details Phil, Red will show some of my mounts under glass, but Red has not tested the 1.2x extender yet. I will bring one with me to the Red party Sunday night (but not a Cooke 5 to 1). I will get the new Dropbox photo gallery up in the next day or two, so you can see the uncompressed tiffs, and post a link. There are a couple of jpegs at 25mm (where the barrel goes to pincussion on the Cooke) in my picture gallery here on Reduser.

Good stuff. Looking forward to seeing them. Are we looking at a 1/4 or 1/3 stop light loss? Sounds like it would be nominal.

I just posted two screenshots from the Cooke test on my gallery here on Reduser. It shows, at 20mm, same f8, that there is slightly over 1/2 a stop loss with the 1.2x extender (20% on the waveform equaling one stop). As you know the 1.4x is a full stop, the 2x two full stops. This is what I expected when I started, very hard to cheat physics.

Ah. I was hoping for a miracle :) Half is alright. That's not really that big of a deal if it's allowing for coverage and Dragon's giving us solid ISO 2000+ imagery. I think it's a smart product. Especially for those who have things like old Standard Speeds that don't cover past S35. Smart stuff.

I seriously doubt that it would work on lenses that protrude as far back as the standard(or super) speeds...
Ken do you care to clarify?

Jacek, right, this is for certain zooms and longer focal lenses, not sure what the shortest fl is yet for the primes. I have a list of zooms on a pdf on the Cooke test, I will try to add that to my gallery here on Reduser. The short list so far;
Angenieux 25-250 HR, 24-290, 17-102
Cooke 20-100, 25-250 Mk III
link to Dropbox with larger Jpegs and movie (of test chart), working on Tiff gallery;
