  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Catching Up...

Hey Brent, big John...RED team, I know you guys are busting the moves to make things happen and make customers happy and I know this cause I saw them doing just that at NAB last week.

Good luck!

Guys, the problems Red has right now is based on the fact that they have spent all their energies and money on developing Red, the lenses, Scarlet, accessories and the like and not properly taking into considertion their backroom/fulfillment needs. This is not uncommon with many new businesses, but that doesn't make it OK.

My cameras are in the 1260's and I still can't get a proper invoice to pay after nearly seven tries. It's like whack-a-mole. On one invoice all is there but B, F and G. On the next, B, F and G are there, but M, R and T are missing. Am I angry, not really. Frustrated, absolutely.

What really bothers me is that I've been ready to pay, but Red has a new policy that 18-85's will be sold to those based on the order their Red was paid for. So Red's delays are delaying my access to these lenses. My 18-85's had 200 numbers. So all of you out there complaining, quiet up a bit.

Jarred and John;

I am happy to wait until all is well on your end. I want a camera that works perfectly with the accessories I need, (EVF please!), when the camera arrives. If it takes a bit longer - well - I know you are doing all you can on your end.

Tail Ends, I am one of the people that oversees the backroom/fulfillment area. I can say that we have an entire side of RED focusing on operations. I, for one, don't spend 1% of my time on product development. The assumptions that the reason for Jarred's "we are behind" post of "lack of accessories" or "lack of focus on operations" are false. What Jarred said - and what Jon has said - and what I have said - is true so take it at face value: We had a lot of people on the fence in early delivery batches that are now off the fence and ready to take their REDs.

Get me or Kelly your serial numbers. I am brent@red.com and she is kelly@red.com. We'll look into your orders.

Thanks, BC

Thanks for the support and understanding Clay! Means a lot!

IMO add up all the items, add in the shipping fee and then send them few hundred more and tell them to SHIP as ASAP whatever they have in stock .. while the $$ is in tranport you can work on the final order item by item with RED ... your account will then have a small balance to order cables, lens cap in future .. or you later ask for a refund of the balance...
if you want you camera NOW send the $$ forget trying to get a exact to the penny figure - send the $$$$ .. the exact figure to the penny will come (invoice) with the camera ...

Thanks Steve. It's always much harder to understand that when you've been waiting f o r e v e r for your camera and easier to chew after having received it. Through the struggles and challenges of bringing RED One to market, everyone involved, from the RED Team to the end users, has suffered the pains of labor in delivery, but when the child arrives, all of the tears wash away. Every time we take a moment to pause (and we resist bumping the schedule in fear of the backlash) everyone benefits. The cameras get better, the accessories get better and the process gets better. Thanks for understanding that and thanks for your support.

while waiting is no fun, the Red team has shown it is for the better each and every time. Waiting now means a better product. You guys are rock stars.

But I still want my cameras. Is that so wrong? ; )

I can't think of any other company that communicates as well as Red. Or is as available. I'll wait. (but I am really eager)

Dude, YOU rock! Thanks for the support. And thanks for the spirit in which it's given. If you can keep your sense of humor through this and still have our backs, realizing we're giving 110%, then you're our hero. Thanks for the support pal.

Big J,

Don't stress the small stuff, work hard, and focus on the great work you guys are doing. Sh*! happens, make sure you guys get some sleep somewhere in between. I'll be ready when the email hits my inbox! The anger is just a side effect of the excitement, but it will subside for most once they take delivery. I can't wait!!!

Thanks Mike! Your understanding is music to our ears. You guys are all the best!

If you truly feel that you are being lied to and that the spirit of this company is anything other than a 150% attempt at doing the right thing and treating our customers with double platinum service, then perhaps you are buying from the wrong company. We have never spoken anything but the truth and to imply differently is an insult. You have asked us to peer into a crystal ball and forecast the future. You have demanded it. We attempt, based on everything we know and some that we don't, to set a delivery schedule. We state that it is an estimate, our best guess. You have no idea the complexity of the challenge we have in bringing this product to market in the numbers we have. It is impossible. It's never been done before and we challenge anyone else to take it on. I have set a revised schedule, based on the recent increase in demand, on my sticky and we will do everything humanly possible to stick to it. I have seen no loss of faith in our loyal customers. I talked to about 500 of them last week at NAB and we have the greatest customers in the world. To suggest otherwise is offensive and to further imply that we are taking advantage of them is hurtful at best. I don't understand where all this FUD is coming from as of late on the part of new posters, but it's starting to wear me out. Impugning our integrity is probably not a constructive way to go.

That sounds reasonable to me, way to go big Jon. Why do they call you big Jon anywa... actually I don`t think I want to know

You're only as old as your way of thinking, so I would say you're as young and fresh as they come!

Brent, thank you for your offer. I've sent you a long email going over my issues with copies to my rep and Ted. Ball is in your court.
