  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Catching Up...

Somebody back me up. Am I the only one that feels this way? If so, I will shut up and get back in line.
Thanks

Red Oklahoma... look inward... is this about the frustration you feel from the failure of Big Red (Oklahoma Sooners?) If so, I don't share your pain, but I understand it.

Big J,

Do you know if there will come a point in time where cameras, and accessories will be stocked and ready to order at once? (Epic/One/Scarlet)

Are the cameras always going to be on a pre order basis?

The reservation system, as we have come to know it from the RED One, will most likely end with the fulfillment of backorders come this fall. We hope to have filled all backorders by that time and shift to an off the shelf purchase model for the RED One. Given our current little pause to catch up, I have conservatively based the new schedule on 500 units per month. I think we'll be able to improve on that by summer and by fall the RED One will have shipped to all reservation holders and be a stocked item for immediate purchase. Scarlet will definitely not use a reservation distribution model and will be manufactured in sufficient quantities to meet initial demand. Epic will be a limited production product but, we feel at this time, will be available in sufficient numbers as to not require a reservation system. RED One reservation holders will, however, have priority in the purchase of an Epic. Having a RED One reservation number guarantees a place in line.

To get RED off the ground, to test the waters for interest, and to develop the product, the reservation system was a necessary process, but going forward our manufacturing growth will not require it. As far as accessories go, every day puts us in a better position and, in time, being backordered on an item will be the exception to the rule.

As a first for you today, that's JUST what I wanted to hear :)
Epic, limited production? Just out of intrest, do you mean that not everyone will be able to buy an epic even if they wanted to? Or just that if the demand is high, you might have to wait a while for it?

Tell the guys over at RED they are doing a wonderful job! You guys are on the right track, and I'm digin' it!

suck the fooners

Hey Big John, maybe you can answer some of my thoughts. Last night I figured it up that to ship 500 a month you have to be shipping 25 a day. (20 business days norm per month) I'm confused why it would be that hard to ship out that many per day. What else has to be done besides getting the items off the shelf, putting them in a box, throwing some packing material into the box, and printing out the FedEx label?

Also, was wondering what is the status on the base plate/dovetail/shoulder pad? Someone today in the 900's said they've had their camera for over a month and still have no way to mount their bottom rods. Is this a part that you just didn't make enough of, or are you all fixing a design flaw.

Matthew

it´s quite obviously the delay is caused in bad availability of accessoires,.

The delay has absolutely nothing to do with accessories.

These arn't tennis shoes.. each camera goes through an extensive QA test that takes quite a bit of time.

I heard the delay was because Jim and Jarred blew all the deposit moneys at Olympic Gardens while in Vegas...this is why Jim has disappeared.

mmh, ok.
but it makes it not really faster to have backorders in the list, ...

I'd say 25 orders a day is quite good. With all the details involved..

hehehe, las vegas. yes.

now we are talking. well, it is what it is.

I knew this whole thing was a scam.

I hope they hurry up and start taking reservations for EPIC, just so I can send them the rest of my life-savings.

On a more serious note... Matthew, I think there's a lot more going on than simply dropping a camera and accessories into a box and shipping it. I want to believe they actually test the camera and set back focus before they let the FedEx guy throw it off a loading dock and back over it with their truck.

Are the ET ARRI base plates shipping right now? If they're out of stock and with no RED bottom plate, that could put us in a real bind here.

SHIT, who told you?

Ya Jim, Jarred and I squeezed ourselves into some sweet new black speedo's with RED logo's and hit Vegas hard FINNER style. All I can say is it was a wild night and Jim looked so good in the speedo that he could put Adonis to shame.

This is like having us stand at the checkout in line for a while so we buy magazines...

After I finally put my eye to a Red EVF... I have to say I'm so impressed... it does appear to kick a fair quantity of ass... so I might have to use these extra 2 weeks to try to find another 3 grand or so... :)

Ah well.

Actually... they're not shipping in full yet are they... I've probs got time later... though I'll try to get in line quickly... if I can afford to.

You have plenty of time to pay in full. EVF are only in the 200's and shipping
50 a month. I expect 1350 EVF about this time next year.....ugh.

Thanks for that!!!!!

The latter. EVERYONE that wants one, gets one!

Will do! Thanks for the support and confidence!
