  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Catching Up...

EVF's will be shipping more than 50 a month. As I posted in another thread, you cannot assume past fulfillment performance is an indicator of all future fulfillment performance. Production has ramped up and we will be shipping hundreds of EVFs per month.

SHIT, who told you?

Ya Jim, Jarred and I squeezed ourselves into some sweet new black speedo's with RED logo's and hit Vegas hard FINNER style. All I can say is it was a wild night and Jim looked so good in the speedo that he could put Adonis to shame.

I don't know if Finner is intentionally trying to mislead or not... But when he says "Jim" he's really referring to "The Hacksaw" Jim Duggan.

I heard the delay was because Jim and Jarred blew all the deposit moneys at Olympic Gardens while in Vegas...this is why Jim has disappeared.

ok... who told you.

but this next batch will start shipping only a couple weeks late.

What is that mean ? as approximate shipping schedule :

1501-2000 begin shipping in April
2001-2500 begin shipping mid May
2501-3000 begin shipping mid June
3001-3500 begin shipping in July
3501-4000 begin shipping in August
4001-4500 begin shipping in September
4501-5000 begin shipping in October

The next batch in mid may ..

will you start shipping or start contacting

customers on that supposed date ?

Somebody back me up. Am I the only one that feels this way? If so, I will shut up and get back in line.
Thanks

I would back you up... but you see you are much braver than I am and I am scared of my RED one being mysteriously delayed indefinitely. Sooooo... great job team RED. Delays are to be expected and I for one am patiently waiting... no dissent from me at all.

big jon said mid may they will put the next emails out, so keep nachos and tequilla standby!
so cameras 2001-2250 should be realistic in customers hand in mid june i suggest.

If that is the case, The schedule for mass production should be adjusted accordingly....

As soon as you said mass production you lost me.

Sniff... sniff... I understand... sniff ... I'm just so READY... sniff... do what you got to do to... sniff...

50 into 500 = ?

50 into 500 = ?

Thanks for keeping us up to date on the rollout of the EVF.
For me it is important because if the production run is only 50 a month then it could be mid 2009 before I get mine!

The EVF core technology and the brains behind were the Accuscene brand EVF. The core product worked for three years with Panavision before it became part of the RED family.
So I would have expected it to be the last component to be delayed.:waaa:

Jim said last year that he planned to make 700 REDs a month and now big Jon says that has dropped to 500 a month.
Now we know that Jim ain't too reliable when it comes to RED dates and figures :) but currently you only have capacity for 50 EVFs a month?

Was this an oversight?

All good, we were told from the start to expect this and I did.

I'm a bit confused about one thing though, the information says we'll get the first email about 2 weeks before the camera is ready to ship.

So if we get the email, confirm all the accessories etc. and wire the money immediately, does it really ship a couple of weeks later, or is there a massive shipping backlog?

The only reason I ask is that I see people in the low thousands and even below, announcing the arrival of their cameras, presumably months after they received their first email. Perhaps this is because they didn't pony up the dough earlier? Makes sense.

Anyway, I'm 100% satisfied with RED's communication and the way they are honestly dealing with every situation. It's been refreshing to say the least.

But if anyone has some information on what has been taking place between the time the email arrives, payment is made, and their camera (with or without all accessories) shows up, it would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

Jim

We shipped more than 50 in March and we shipped more than 50 in April so far. That does not equate to a production run of only 50 a month...

The production schedule is hundreds a month. We stated that we were ramping up EVF production in February and we did. We will burn through the EVF backorder as quickly as possible now that we have hit stride with production.

You nailed it. Right as NAB approached and people saw more and more evidence of RED out in the world and shooting, a lot of fence-sitters decided to now take delivery of their cameras. And, per our policy, we are working them back into the rotation within (30) days. So, that is why you see some early serial numbers just getting delivered now. And, hence, Jarred's post that started this thread :)

Hey Brent,

Thanks for the response. That's exactly what I thought.

So when the email eventually comes in after the delay, does it mean I could potentially see the camera a few weeks later if I settle the account quickly?

Thanks Brent, great job as always.

Jim

Thanks Brent!! thats music to my ears, I had not heard of the ramp up
so that makes me tingly....in a manly sort of way and all.

I'm a fence sitter; I've been waiting on the Nikon mount. No use getting a camera I can't use and burning through the warranty.

I sold stock on Monday and will wire the money tomorrow.

Thanks, Jim. Our goal is to process orders within a week or so of receiving final payment AND after you get your second email from us ("Your RED ONE is ready to ship")...

And, I want to offer up my personal apology to those of you who have had to wait (or are still waiting) beyond that week timeframe to get your camera after we have received payment. We want nothing more than to get as many RED's out to our great customers as possible. We still get stoked with each one that hops on the FedEx truck :)
