EDIT .....ANYWAY .GUYS i know that you are working hard again a lot of thanks .hope you can catch up sooner .

With the pause to catch up in place, that email delivery will probably push back a couple weeks. You can PM Kelly (kelly@red.com) to see if early payment can get your paperwork up to date before starting your project. We're here to work with you, my friend. And thank you for your patience and understanding.

thanks for that offer jon, but i think kelly and the rest of team has enough to do at the moment with the remaining orders, so i will wait until i am in first row.

best until then!

Hi Big Jon

I was expecting the final invoice for 1775 sometime later today and hoping for delivery within the next 2-3 weeks.
Naturally, I was disappointed to read Jarred's post and yours.
I am currently trying to restore my spirits by reading the revised schedule to mean

"We are reasonably certain (conservative estimate) that paid-for cameras from the batch 1750-2000 will ship before the end of May (given that 2000+ are still listed as beginning shipping in May)".

Am I reading too much into your words ?

Not at all, we're expecting this "catch up" to be a matter of a couple weeks in its impact on the current batches. The decision to back off in our attempt to get 700 cameras out a month starting in May is to keep us from getting further behind, but this next batch will start shipping only a couple weeks late.

Thanks Waiting Patiently

Thanks Waiting Patiently

Thank you for the update and for letting me know the status of my reservation. I was hoping for my camera by June but it looks like July August for me now at best.

For all those who put their money down, please if you want your camera have your money ready, finalize your order and wire the money to RED. Don't make those of us down the road have to wait while you decide. My money and order will be ready and paid for when the email arrives.

I blame only myself for waiting so long to place my order.

#3002 in July or August. Thanks for working hard to get the cameras out the door.

Waiting patiently!!

I second you on that. I'm beginning to feel that RED as been way too generous with the late payers.

hehehe, i know you mean, i waited too long either last year, but there were private things that delayed all my business stuff and now mr. patience is an often seen guest in my house. well you know, the are really more bad things in the world as waiting for a camera. we have luxury problems haven´t we?

... there's another side to this, except for people being delayed.

1st, the biggest catch-up may very well be in accessories (guessing! speculating! etc etc). Many haven't received their baseplate/dovetail (it seems) this slows stuff even more up (guessing) because each order will have to be proccessed more than once.

I guess (GUESS!) they want to set all proccessed accounts straight before proceeding. This may take some time...

The early adaptors went in for a ride and pushed schedules, and the individual company/persons economy may have changed significantly from the day they committed themself, still this comitment have been only good for RED and later orderers, in the way that RED could gauge actual demand and set up production lines accordingly. I do not find it strange (even though it is very generous) that RED gives those who waited for almost 2 years an extra hand or two. (we've had plenty, but we've also had plenty delays. The predicted schedule slipped by exactly a year in my case... No complaints, though)

It's been a rollercoaster for many of us, as it has been for RED.

And last: All things are always subject to change including prices and deliverydates. It's been stated a million times.

Cheer up. It's gonna be a fantastic day when it arrives...

Patience

Patience

What is the highest number camera out? Is there really an achievable production schedule in place? I haven't heard anything but delays. I would like to think that Red sees us (the customers as reasonable adults). I think we deserve the truth from the start. If you know that a batch of cameras is going to take 2 months to get out, tell us. We are trying to juggle schedules and loans for a camera we haven't received yet. I am paying on a loan for something I don't even have a clue when I will receive. I think it is only fair to start letting the customers know a truly achievable production schedule for cameras and accessories. We don't want to be lied to so we are passified for a couple of weeks. How can you possibly be telling new customers that they will recieve a camera in July when you are so far behind. It is time to focus on the product that got you on the map, (Red ONE). We are all thrilled to see new products come online and for red to put sony and panasonic out of business but these things take time. FOCUS You are losing the faith of your loyal customers. I continue to be patient but leary. I feel you are taking advantage of your customers loyalty, and the news travels fast.

It's so worth the wait when you start shooting with it.

You stare at the screen for hours with your jaw dropping slowly in disbelief.
Truly remarkable images.

Heres a tip, use 30 inch apple monitors and see it at 1:1, it's like looking at a photograph that moves.

If you truly feel that you are being lied to and that the spirit of this company is anything other than a 150% attempt at doing the right thing and treating our customers with double platinum service, then perhaps you are buying from the wrong company. We have never spoken anything but the truth and to imply differently is an insult. You have asked us to peer into a crystal ball and forecast the future. You have demanded it. We attempt, based on everything we know and some that we don't, to set a delivery schedule. We state that it is an estimate, our best guess. You have no idea the complexity of the challenge we have in bringing this product to market in the numbers we have. It is impossible. It's never been done before and we challenge anyone else to take it on. I have set a revised schedule, based on the recent increase in demand, on my sticky and we will do everything humanly possible to stick to it. I have seen no loss of faith in our loyal customers. I talked to about 500 of them last week at NAB and we have the greatest customers in the world. To suggest otherwise is offensive and to further imply that we are taking advantage of them is hurtful at best. I don't understand where all this FUD is coming from as of late on the part of new posters, but it's starting to wear me out. Impugning our integrity is probably not a constructive way to go.

it´s quite obviously the delay is caused in bad availability of accessoires, i think Red is here in a position other industrials are suffering under too.
friend of mine from industry has at the moment huge problems for his machines (and they are BIG) to deliver because some parts are off.
i think we should be fair to a very first product of a company that makes their experiences as we do with this camera. don´t get me wrong, i would love to shoot my may-stuff on my own red, but facts are facts and i can beat and scream, but there will be no fedex tomorrow.

as said before, let them take a deep breath and i am sure THIS patience and loyality of the reservation holders will motivate the Reds more to deliver the stuff as fast as possible than any other reactions.

not an attack

not an attack

I think you have taken this way to personal. I haven't demanded anything but the truth. I just don't think I am getting all the information. Attempting an endeavor like this takes time.

AS YOU SAID, AND I QUOTE
"You have no idea the complexity of the challenge we have in bringing this product to market in the numbers we have. It is impossible. It's never been done before and we challenge anyone else to take it on." Big Jon

If that is the case, The schedule for mass production should be adjusted accordingly to reflect such a massive endeavor. I think everyone would understand. There is nothing more unsettling to than to find out that Christmas has been pushed back three weeks the day before. Ha Ha
I only speak for myself, but I am sure others feel the same way.
A week ago I was told by Kelly that I would receive an email yesterday. Then I had to read about it in a post. I would have been nice to have received an email.
My customers are starting to think this camera doesn't exist. I have been cancelling days they can use it for months.

Somebody back me up. Am I the only one that feels this way? If so, I will shut up and get back in line.
Thanks

well if your customers think it doesn´t exist it´s a problem of the customers, häh? i understand you, being in same position. but the "out of stock" issue is a good point, other companies handle this easier and not as friendly as Red.
the point is, what can we all do now? my personal resume is, i will shoot the next projects as i shoot the last years, i didn´t promise my clients a red movie. so they get a normal HD ...
i HAVE promised a red movie in july because it´s for screen.
but now we have april, i am in the early next batch and i am sure this will work. i really have to say that the Red Team is very helpful, answers emails very fast so i still trust in this product.

You wont find a lot of symphaty here as those of us that have cameras have already been thru the same delays you are experiencing. My first camera was delayed many, many months, but once I received it I forgot about all the delays, as you will. It was worth the wait!

Bottom line is you should never schedule a production around a product you dont physically possess. Red is a start-up company and I'm sure they are doing the best they can, they arent holding back to piss you off....cut them some slack.

Have patience, once your camera arrives you will be overjoyed, it is truly a revolutionary camera.

I have a camera that is in the same boat as yours and I need it yesterday, but bitching about it wont change a thing.

"My customers are starting to think this camera doesn't exist. I have been cancelling days they can use it for months"

never book equipment a rental till you have you have received the new equipment - also you should allow a few days to check it out before handing it to a customer ...
whatever Red told you a week ago was what they knew at that time .. they have now made a decision to "catch up" ...

if you have been promising Red to your clients and have a high demand for RED then maybe look into sub renting one( isn't that providing customer service ) from outside your area ...

Hey Guys,
Its no fun waking up monday morning to news of a delay. Manufacturing something this complex brings with it certain pitfalls and delays are inevitable. Since last August, RED has shipped less than 1500 units, so production has really only begun. It takes time to build up a parts inventory deep enough to keep pace with production. They've proven the camera is real, but they don't control the availability of raw materials and components yet. This is a logistics issue. Hiccups in the system are normal in the ramp-up stage, expect them and you won't be disappointed.

If it was so important to get your cameras so soon, then why did you wait so long to put in a reservation? I waited until October 2006 before I reserved and then I waited over a year and a half for my camera. I still don't have all of my parts. I could be posting constantly or calling RED every day and complaining, but I feel that it would just be wasting both my time and RED's time.

Obviously the situation is beyond their control. I'm sure that the Bomb Squad would love to be way ahead of schedule and they are doing everything in their power to get there. So many people are coming up with paranoid conspiracy theories. If you don't trust RED, then buy a camera from Sony or Panasonic. After all, the RED One Digital Cinema Camera is a SCAM! Everyone knows that!

I feel better now. In fact I feel good enough to offer some help. If you don't have your camera yet and you genuinely, desperately need one for a project, please feel free to PM me. I'd be happy to find a way to help.

People are gonna be a little pissed off today. Maybe the community can cut folks a little slack and let them vent. Let's not make things worse by hammering on every angry post. We're all a bit guilty of unrealistic planning with regard to the camera's availability. We all want it now. I wanted it last monday. We have the answer from Jarred, and I know it kills them to make the call to delay. But they've been working like hell to meet an ambitious schedule already. Let's hope they beat the new one. I think they can do it.

Big J,

Do you know if there will come a point in time where cameras, and accessories will be stocked and ready to order at once? (Epic/One/Scarlet)

Are the cameras always going to be on a pre order basis?
