As many of you know the next round of emails for delivery were supposed to go out in the next couple days, unfortunately we will need to pause that email and catch up a bit.

Production is still rolling and we are cranking the cameras out as fast as we can, but in the last couple weeks we have had an unforeseen amount of earlier serial number customers that previously decided to wait on delivery, call in and tell us they are ready to take their cameras.

As I hope you all will understand, we need to honor our existing promises to those earlier customers. Big Jon will keep you guys posted on the slightly modified forward delivery schedule, that should only affect the next batch or two of numbers.

Thanks Jarred.

Sorry guys, it's my fault. I am a complete bastard. :-)

I imagine this has something to do with the announcements at NAB - Last week RED became much more of a real company to many of the well-known and well-vocal doubters.

Thanks for understanding guys.. it's only fair to get the cameras to the people who ordered first, and then take care of the last batch of people that just paid up before we continue on to the next round.

We expect this to be just a short speedbump.

Thanks Jarred.

Hehe my fault too.. I should've taken my camera last month when my number came up instead of now. Yeah, I'm sure that would have made all the difference. :usd:

I've updated the schedule. It is purposely conservative. We will try and beat it. The greatest impact will be on the next batches, 1751-3000, over the next month. If you are in this batch, please understand that it is what we have to do. It's not personal; we just have to catch up. There is no worse feeling in the world than having collected someone's hard earned money and not being able to ship product. Give us a couple weeks. Thanks for being the best customers there are. Having met many of you at NAB and putting faces to names, I am further convinced RED has the best customers in the world.

where is the rest of my basic production pack?

where is the rest of my basic production pack?

I have had a Camera for almost 2 months. I have NO Bottom Plate and NO dove tail. I have a hard time attaching anything to my camera with only one top mount. (I ordered another one 2 weeks ago and still have nothing). C'mon RED how are you worried about getting out 1000 cameras past mine (#759) When people that were way earlier in line (the very purpose of your post Jarred) are being stranded. What am i supposed to do without the basic operating requirements of my camera? Please give a loyal customer something to expect in the mail soon for waiting nearly 2 months. Am I the only one?

little painful indeed because some projects won´t be done on red right now.
but actually the right decision, big jon, to take your breath, to fill the accessoires and to get the stuff out in a right way.

will the first email to 2001-2250 still be placed on 5th may? that would me awesome to have this order process off the table (because mid may i start a huge project), i want to pay as soon as possible and then i wait with great patience for next steps.

With the pause to catch up in place, that email delivery will probably push back a couple weeks. You can PM Kelly (kelly@red.com) to see if early payment can get your paperwork up to date before starting your project. We're here to work with you, my friend. And thank you for your patience and understanding.

This is like having us stand at the checkout in line for a while so we buy magazines...

After I finally put my eye to a Red EVF... I have to say I'm so impressed... it does appear to kick a fair quantity of ass... so I might have to use these extra 2 weeks to try to find another 3 grand or so... :)

Ah well.

Actually... they're not shipping in full yet are they... I've probs got time later... though I'll try to get in line quickly... if I can afford to.

Hi Big Jon

I was expecting the final invoice for 1775 sometime later today and hoping for delivery within the next 2-3 weeks.
Naturally, I was disappointed to read Jarred's post and yours.
I am currently trying to restore my spirits by reading the revised schedule to mean

"We are reasonably certain (conservative estimate) that paid-for cameras from the batch 1750-2000 will ship before the end of May (given that 2000+ are still listed as beginning shipping in May)".

Am I reading too much into your words ?

Most important is that you will get them out tested and in good order. We will gain nothing from rushing if we have to return them after a short while for repairing. And you know better than I do that it happened
SO PLEASE TAKE YOUR TIME AS NEEDED, WE GAIN NOTHING FROM RUSHING AS SOME POINTS.

Wow disappointing news indeed. I've been giving my partner and everyone I work with a step by step report about the status of our camera. We were expecting to wire off the payment for 1888 today and then expect the camera in about 3 weeks after the payment is confirmed. Now with this delay I don't know how long until we'll get the email for the final payment or when after that we'll receive the camera. I can only hope our batch receives their cameras in May.

Could you please inform us when to expect the email for payment at least? The only good perspective about this is that probably the RED primes will be ready by the time our camera ships. Heck I have to find some ray of hope. I feel like I'm on a ship crossing over to the new world just hoping for a glimpse of land... even a bird... heck even a coconut floating in the vast sea would be too pleasurable a sight to see.
