  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Carbon Fiber DRAGON on RED.com for pre-order...plus more

I think that's the plan, once the sensor production ramps up to capacity, they will begin cycling in EPIC-X cameras for the upgrade and will start selling new EPIC-M (Carbon ones) with the Dragon already installed. Once all the EPIC-X customers have been issued the upgrade notice and they've got that program under control, I think they will start offering EPIC-X w/ Dragon sensor for purchase. That's how I've read into all this.

That Carbon Dragon is mighty tempting, I must say. OTOH, my EPIC-M should be called for the upgrade real soon now and I don't need another camera and I don't need to spend $50K just to shed about a pound of weight. I suppose I could sell my M, but man what a hassle... Kinda makes me wish I just needed more cameras.

The new Dragon hats offer an additional 3 stops of highlight protection for your head from the sun.
 
Just checked with Red Irvine and, after some inquiry, the decision was made to offer the educational discount, on the purchase of the DECF. Also, the DECF ships with the top and bottom fan kit...a $450.00 add on, included in the purchase price.

That's actually a very significant educational discount. Wow. Tremendous. Glad I teach on Sundays. The temptation is growing painfully fast.

Yeah, They had originally told me that the discount would not be offered on this piece, but after listening to me, as RED listens even more intently to you...policy change!

I am surprised, though, that you don't get one on permanent loan..

While that would be amazingly cool, I've allocated funds for a "vanilla regular old" Dragon upgrade. Maybe in the future if I can find a way to make it work. For me the sensor and new tech matter most. I'm also pretty grateful to get an early look at the beast in the various stages of development and share that stuff with y'all.

Might actually be some more "stuff" to share relatively soon.

I wouldn't say I sold out. I would say I'm on the boards enough to clean up crazy things every now and again. Quite an honor actually. I'm in some rare and wonderful company.

Ha, that's nothing, I was promised a t-shirt back when they released the first green screen clip for the RED prototype on DVXUser. ;) Sometimes these things fall through the cracks. :D
