When I mount the ssd it say that is impossible to mount the media try again...Then after many times the ssd works....
I AM BORED!!!!
Can't stand anymore that on set I can't mount my media!! really????

But I have notice that ONLY happen in the following sequence:
1. Recording
2. Offloading the mag from Red Mini Mag Reader in the Imac (notice that I don't work on the mag, but I first offoload the files)
3. I eject properly the mag
Then when I put the mag in the camera I get the message.
So I have the feeling that something happen after the offloading. I have sent houndreds of log files to red ma nobody find any issue.

Sounds a bit weird, you got this issue with two cameras? How do you store your ssd cards between shoots? Have the camera been sent to RED for evaluation? As far as I can remember this only happend to me once and in that case I didn´t push the card all the way.

I got the camera upgraded so they also change the ssd module and should work..but nothing....I have to inserr many times before it reads....I start to get bored now....really...

I would contact RED and open a ticket so they can help you and also bring in the camera if needed.

ON the facebook page looks like a LOT of people have the same issue and one guy has a ticket open for this issue from two years!!

Luca,

Try this first.

1). Make sure (or configure) your Mac can show "All" files including hidden or systems files on your folders and inserted media.

2). Secure format the Mini Mag, record something (all in camera).

3). Attach the Mag reader on a Windows machine (maybe on a friend's laptop or something).

4). Check to see what files are visible and make a record or write them down, (also, make sure the Widows machine is configured with "hidden files visible" feature).

5). Now reattach the Mini Mag reader to your Mac and insert the Mini Mag. Check for any new files added by your Mac OS.

6). Copy or download clips as you do normally and recheck whether the Mac had written any new files to the Mini Mag.

7). If possible repeat the workflow listed on item # 3). of this list.

8). Do you see "ANY" new files written by the Mac OS into the Mini Mag? If so, that may be the issue. The RED in-camera workflow seemingly demand that the media to be formatted in-camera.

I have found that: if you were to copy a bunch lut files into the Mini Mag (to transfer into 3D Luts) through a Windows machine, your camera becomes super slow to refresh once that Mini Mag is inserted.

HI Neil thanks for the info, sadly I have no one here with a Windos MAchine, keep in mind that I never added anything to the mag FROM the Imac, I only offloaded the clips and ejected.
I notice that many people are having the same issue...which is really weird!

I feel the frustration. I've seen something like this happening before.

You are not adding anything but the Imac might be adding hidden file or two in to the folder. For an example, ask someone who has a computer with Windows to create a folder. If you were to examine that folder, you'd see nothing but the folder. However, if you were to insert the same media into the a Mac based system and copy or delete any file you'd see two additional (hidden) files written on to that folder.

Neil is correct. Have had the same issue on Macs, but never on a Windows based PC.

Since the new mac update I have nothing but trouble mounting RED mags on it.
On windows everything works flawlessly.

Luca,

How are you copying your footage from mag to mac exactly? Just a simple copy of main folder from mag and paste to a new archive folder on mac? Then proper eject of mag and secure format card in camera erasing all clips you just copied, after you verified clips copied over without issue of course? ;) Also are you using RED Watchdog? I always eject mag from the menu bar thru watchdog or within sidebar in REDCINE-X. Never had issues with SSD mount on RAVEN or EPIC-W. Sorry to hear about the continued issues....

Hi Jason yes I do exactly what you said in a proper way :-) I have notice that ejecting from the drop down menu in watchdog the issue doesn’t come at the moment... is maybe that the solution? Will be nice if we can all know what the issue is as a lot of people is having this problem.

I have noticed that ejecting via watchdog seems almost immediate while ejecting any other way there is a slight delay many times and it could leave room for other potential issue to pop up as other described files or logs being written or created, especially if yanked before full eject is actually complete. I have stuck with ejecting via watchdog and have not had any issues in over two years on either camera doing it this way. Hope the success via watchdog eject continues for you.

I still have this issue. Red keep saying it's fixed through brain firmware. My gut feel is it's the mags and thats why they can't fix it.

I have to load my mag early and hope I can complete the mini mag resurection voodoo dance before anyone notices.
