Hi team,

I am torn between these two lenses, so I thought I would ask the professionals and get some honest feed back on both. I hope one day to screw one of these to a Scarlet X, my budget is small, and I an looking for a good "all rounder".

Throw your two cents in and help me make a decision...please! ;)

Look for a used canon. It's tack sharp at 2.8. Also I'd recomend going with IS if u plan on going to 200.

Hey Doug, yes that was my dream lense, but just can't stretch to the extra bucks....one day though. What system do you hang your Sigma on?

Using it on a 7D and (hopefully soon) a Scarlet.

In this video I was able to get a very steady shot of my actor crossing the street (at about 30 seconds) from around 100 feet away

The OS saved me at 200mm, as we were only able to get two takes before a grumpy Burbankian yelled at me and called the cops.

At the moment, B&H is offering an instant $400 discount on the IS II making it only about $500 more than the Sigma. Offer ends tomorrow [12/2] though.

If you can get the Canon 70 200 IS do it. It's a fantastic lens and will hold its value beyond the Sigma if you fall on hard times. The likely hood is you will have this the rest of your life so the extra bucks right now is meaningless.

Well, it's more like a $200 discount since their price for several weeks was a competitive $2174.00
Does this suggest a new version coming out?
