Hey guys, I just switched to the Canon Mt. for an upcoming shoot.....I can't seem to get the auto focus to work in any mode except "touch drag" (where you touch the 5" touch where you want the focus). All the other modes don't seem to do anything. I'm on firmware 3.3.14 and 24-70 EF lens is on Auto. Any help would be appreciated, as always.

Did you go to the Focus menu and change any of the settings? It's pretty straightforward. Any time you change a lens, you might need to change the focus settings from a previous lens, that has been my experience.

check the focus menu....
i have the same lens and it works fine...

By the focus menu you mean the screen that has two drop down menus, one for continuous, rack, touch drag, etc. and the other spot, center, etc? If yes, then yes I have.....strange nothing changes with focus.

Hmmm, should be working. Do you have another Canon lens you might try and see if it works? I can verify that it does work with that lens along with several others. Which monitor are you using, the 5" touchscreen or an EVF/sidehandle setup?

Mark, I'm using side handle/touch screen.....I only get anything to change with the "touch drag" mode on the 5" touch screen......I'll try some other lenses this morning. I just wanted to see if I'm missing some basic menu set up to get it operational.

So you have a side handle and a 5" touchscreen. Which are you using to make the changes, the side handle or the touchscreen? And have you tried the other for input?

One possible problem is that the outer lock ring is not turned firmly and/or the lens is not seated correctly. Trying removing it and re-seating it, making sure to turn the lock ring firmly.

Just to be clear, the Menu options are:
Manual
Confirm
Single
Continuous
Touch Track
Rack

Personally, I don't find the Touch Track responsive enough. If that's the one you are using to create a single focus point, I'd suggest using "Single" instead. For Single, you just need to touch the screen firmly at the point you want to focus on and it should be pretty clear when the lens focuses.
