Hi,
After Effect seems to convert my footage to interlace from progressive without me trying to do so. I make a vertical crop from a RED footage in RedCine-X as Pro-Res444. I load the file in AfterEffects CS5, rotate the footage 90 degrees, and when I export it as Blue Ray MPEG2 it becomes interlaced. I don't see any place where I have control over this.

Thanks for your input and ideas,
Radim

Could you try exporting to a different format, back out to a ProRes intermediate to see whether it's the MPEG2 encoder that is deciding to add the interlacing.
You could try encoding that footage through media encoder if it works.

It seems that I am getting interlaced output from AE5 when rotating the footage no matter what. I tried Animation, ProRes4444. I tried Media Encoder also resulting with interlaced footage.

first remove interlacing from the 30p in AE or magic bullet, or convert from 30p to 24P

Have you checked the interpret footage properties, to see if the footage has been imported as interlaced in the first place?

shashbugu> thanks, I thought about that, it will add another step/export to our workflow, but would make it possible. How do you do it in AE?

Kujtim> yes, it is set to progressive. Separate files = Off. Same thing in export MPEG properties in Render Queue.

Same problem in Premiere. It forces interlace.
