I've mentioned it, we knew it was coming, and we've seen a light dabbling of dedicated mirrorless mount cinema glass.

But here's the new Canon CN-R Primes

If they are based on the RF L series primes, (of which only the 50 f/1.2, 85 f/1.2, and 135mm f/1.8 currently exist), this may be precursor to the stills lenses coming up.

The only shocker here in the 20mm for me.

I think Sigma showing how fast 20mm can be was an eye-opener for many as the Sigma Art 20mm 1.4 is still on my list, so if Canon puts out another fast one then more power to them. I am wondering how they will do in terms of sales as mirrorless-only stills lenses are a thing, like Laowa's fast lens lineup for example, but mirrorless-only cinema lenses could be problematic only in that none of the mounts, save for the thin adapter for Sony E to Nikon Z, are compatible and none are cross adaptable to LPL either so that would be a very risky and expensive decision to make when trying to carry these lenses forward between generations of cameras.

Depressingly, these do appear to be "remounted" CN-E primes from what I can discern. I'll be reaching out to Canon regarding this. They have in my mind much more interesting optics that should be explored in 2023 for this specific application.

Heck, I'd love to see them redo the 50mm 1.0 EF and especially the 50mm 0.95 Dream lens if they're going to re-use lens designs, clearly there is a demand for specialty super fast glass.
