  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Canon CN-E vs Leica R rehoused

there is a ring on the inner portion of the lens
i use a mattebox my self but it is possible i think.

lightest set up i use is bright tangerine misfit atom with 4x4 filters clamped onto the front of the CNE

Ahh so the 85 has threads for 72mm screw on filters. maybe the 135 too..the 24 has no threads my 50 is being rented I'll check the front of that lens tomorrow
oh, well yeah, now i wonder if they are universally 72mm, except the 24 and probably the 14, that has none

I mean who ever said the matte box and stuff costs money is correct.. I don't like screw on filters, and yes the cne lenses are heavy, but they look incredible... I can't see my self selling mine

When using the CN-E's on a gimbal, the screw-ins could be a great way to cut weight. There are two possibilities that I have considered:

There is the Schneider clamp on ND kit: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/906267-REG/schneider_68_884501_compact_nd_kit_for.html

Another option: I recently invested in the Breakthrough Photography's X3 CPL in 105mm screw-in frame. They have a kickstarter campaign running till 19th November, 2015 (http://breakthrough.photography/product/x3-cpl/)

Graham Clark (Product Designer at Breakthrough informs me that they plan to release their ND range in both 105mm screw-in, 100mm square or 4" x 5.65" sizes very soon (6 ~ 8 weeks after the X3 CPL is released in December).

Matthew I am not in front of my lenses right now, however, I remember the 24, 35, 50, 85 & 135mm all of them having a front 105mm screw-in thread?

Jordan, universally they (24, 35, 50, 85 & 135mm) have a 105mm screw in thread to the best of my knowledge. The 85mm also has an extra 72mm thread near the front element too (so it has two mounting points for filters: 105mm & 72mm).
