I'm looking to upgrade to entry level cinema glass. I have a set of Contax Zeiss lenses which I love, but also want an alternate set with bigger focus throws and cinema housing. Looking at the Canon CN-E and GL Optics rehoused Leica R summicrons (I rarely find myself shooting at f/1.4).
I have around 10 EF mounted lenses so with the CN-E I could swap if necessary. With the PL Leicas, I wouldn't have that flexibility.
I've handled and shot tests with the CN-Es and they are nice. Don't know the build quality for the GL Optics - anyone with experience that can chime in? I love the painterly look of Leica R bokeh more than Canon Bokeh.
Already ruled out CP.2 and Xenons due to personal preference. I would love to own Cooke Mini S4s but they're more than I want to spend, and I like the option of going to f/2. I am only wanting these lenses as a personal set, not to rent out.
Thoughts on my next set of glass?
