  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Can you spot the Dragon?

For Mytherapy the biggest development of 2013 was the release of the Red Dragon camera. The reason we fell in love with the Dragon was because of the way it naturally captures skin tones as this is one the biggest issues we all face in digital image capture today. To demonstrate this we want to play a little game with you - Can You Spot The Dragon (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1pfbKOE95qxsJCif4IBAkllPv7kHjc4F8VBjA3KRii1Y/viewform). There are 3 stills in this game, one was taken with the Arri Alexa, one with the Sony F65 and one with the Red Dragon. To us the Dragon stands out by the way it renders skin tone but we would like to find out if you are able to see the difference too.

Hm... As lights and post is very different, it is a bit of challenge, right... (and I have Dragon...)

Also they are very small and the first seems pretty skin-blured in post.

The lighting is also very different. It is a hard comparison.

I agree that Dragon rules in post, though. But all of these cameras can look very good.

I kinda have 2 candidates for each image....
 
In a way I would hope it was #3, but that could also be the 65...

It is also not impossible that it is #1, but it has a few Alexa cues in it.

I hope #2 is F65.
 
#2 for some reasons:

Good skintones are most difficult to obtain on caucasian people, that exclude IMHO #3

Dragon has best DR and, as far i saw on Dragon photo and video, it retains best the dark areas, so it would indicate #2

#1 has a blown highlight (not a great exposure for a 16+ DR sensor) and filters make looks the face little out of focus.

So Dragon could be #2
 
#2 would be my guess.

#1 is extremely soft and lacks detail so either this is out of focus or has heavy filtration or heavy post noise reduction going on. #3 is too difficult to judge but does have decent sharpness, my guess is that is the F65 shot. #1 would then have to be Alexa. But we shall see.... Just a guess since they are different models, different color temps, different location, etc...
 
Wait, wait. I found another clue.

#1 is in the vimeo showreel which states all images were capture at 4k so that rules out Alexa for image 1 if that reel was acquired completely at 4k.

They are all in the 4k reel so I now I am thinking they might all be dragon! LOL

ps: why do I get involved in these fun little games :) I'm a sucker for this stuff.
 
This better not be a trick question where they are all Epic shots...

Every one of those shots is in the reel but the description says all are shot in 4K which would rule out the Alexa....
