Anyone have opinions here about a smallish truck for camera and DIT work? We like the looks of the Sprinter but they are $. Nissan NV looks cool, maybe a tad smaller. Any thoughts out there?

I think there is a extended version of the NV, they have a good set of videos on it at their site if I remember correctly. But the NV looks really good; interested to hear anybody's comments on it that owns one.

After researching all the cargo vans on the market for many months, I eventually a purchased a 2006 118" WB Sprinter 2500 for my DIT van.

Best,

Good stuff guys. If I may ask, did you go inverter or gennie on your Sprinters?

I currently have a Honda 2,000w and a Honeywell 1,000w gennie, each of which powers different kit. Eventually, I will ultimately go for an on-board inverter system...

Love my Sprinter. German build quality, 20+ mpg due to common rail fuel injected turbo diesel tech, have a 3500 with dualies that handles decent payloads and winds nicely.
I have an inverter system, 4 deep cycle marine batts, Honda 2000is genny and 30amp shore power tap plus 3 UPS units.
If you're interested I might be willing to lease it out...

I went with a 14 passenger Airport shuttle bus with a wheel chair lift. About the same size as a Sprinter. They can be had for pretty cheap. Wheel chair lift means you can get a good sized cart in and out. Replaced the bus door with RV door and pulled all the bus seats. I also pulled all the windows and put a new piece of sheet metal on the sides to cover the holes. RV AC on the roof. Need to finish putting new insulation and paneling on the inside, but I have been too busy working.

Sprinters are really nice though, just not in my budget.

I got a good deal on a 2005 Sprinter a year ago and have been very pleased.
Great capacity, headroom, and fuel efficiency. And I know this may sound odd, but once the turbo spools up it moves!
I guess that's why they call it the Sprinter.

Good Luck!

i bought the biggest ford transit van money could buy, its made in germany, you can stand up inside of it. and it was 40% cheaper than the sprinter and it is diesel.

I am still trying to rack it out, but my problem is that everytime I design the interior the way I want it, i end up buying more gear and have to start from scratch.

That's why I ended up using carts I can ratchet down.
