Hey Danny,

I assume you are going into the Camwave via HD SDI output from the Epic ?
The Epic only gives out p - not psf. Could that be an issue ?

I personally failed miserable the other day trying to route the Epic SDI signal
through an Aja box that converts it into component HD.

Somehow the box, that always worked fine with my red one, decided it hated the signal.

May the video-signal force be with you !!!

cheers

Hey Dan.

Same situation this week.. DITing on an EPIC shoot - firmware v2.0.5 (release) + IDX-5HD - supposed to rig on a steadicam. Each piece of equipment was individually tested beforehand and was known to work ok. We're also in europe - the project timebase is 25fps.

So we first set up the the EPICs HDSDI feed out to 1080p @ 25fps and connected it to the WAVE expecting it NOT to work - we just tested it out ... no picture. check. Then we set the HDSDI feed to 720p @ 50Hz, this time expecting it to work, but unfortunately got no picture on the receiver end. We played around with other Hz settings @ 720p to no avail. still no picture. At this point people started getting nervous, so the steadicam op pulled an AJA mini-downconverter, and we fed a PAL signal into the WAVE which "fixed" things. This is something that kinda worked in this particular emergency situation, but no one likes an SD video assist feed..

After shooting the steadicam stuff, they put the camera on sticks for a while and i was able to test the signal. Did a direct 1080p 25fps feed from the camera HDSDI to the AJA IO HD + MACPRO on my cart. perfect picture. NOW, the weird thing was that after i changed the signal from the camera menu to 720 @50Hz, the AJA IO HD was auto-detecting a totally different signal - a 1080p 24fps one. we were powering down in between, tested everything... my conclusion is that there is definitely an issue with the signal @ 720, at least on this particular camera in this particular build. and since the situation did not allow me to methodically go thru each setting and write down each result, i'm planning to do just that in a quiet controlled environment sometime this upcoming week and i promise to report in detail.

until then, all the best!

ps. did the support at IDX really ask you "whats an EPIC?" - LOL.

thanks fot these replies guys..... I get my steadicam back tommorrow its been in for repair so Im going to build it and try and get it to work and play with it.... so Ill keep you posted, its just annoying that everyone says it should work but it just doesn't....... yes I am going into the HDSDI but no P isn't a problem as I have the latest build on the cam wave

If I get it to work Ill reveal all....

Danny

Next NAB, Aja, BM or Decimator will present some 1080P to 1080PsF micro converter ;-).
Fingers Crossed.

please share the intel. because I have not been able to figure out what it really is....

ive used the camwave extensively without fail...not sure whats happening to you and what and how you configured but have a go when you get your rig back and if your still having issues reach out and we can troubleshoot together yes?

sergio what settings have you been using then? could you let me know please?

So today plugged it all up on the steadicam, shooting 25fps we played about and managed to get the camera working on monitor out on

Hd1080p at 29.976hz, it seemed to work, as in was no longer scrolling, but the real camera tests for the feature are this Friday so I will try them in anger then. (the real baffle is I'm 99999% I already tried that so as in many tints it doesn't make any sense)

Its worth noting that in order to change the settings on monitor out, each time you have to turn the camer off and on in order for them to be switched on or over.

Ill post again Friday if I have any more problems

Thanks
