I think they revolutionize the whole film industry by pushing 4k-5k 6 years ago, why do you think alexa, canon etc are fallowing the trend after 5 years.
Just like apple with the iphone and ipad, now we have droid microsft pad bla bla. Red was first and they deserve recondition.

I agree, I was not tarnishing all of the accomplishments of Red.

lol I'm sorry but this forum's intention is to provide a place for support and discussion. If you're trying to make a place where people are blacklisted and shunned then please step off your pedestal and join the rest of us that are trying to discuss and debate respectfully. The search tools on the forum are not always helpful, and if I have to review a 33 page thread before every post to avoid insult from someone who would like to put themselves above others then this is not a place to come for help at all. No knowledge that you have ever gives you a right to put anyone on a "list".

When they were getting ready to announce the Scarlet a few made posts with a bad attitude and they said they were on the list. I'm sorry if you didn't take it as a joke. I have a friend who now works there who told me she saw them in the warehouse shipping out. Some of the early orders were for 16 cameras at a time so I am guessing rental houses aren't here posting about it. We ar still dealing with payment procedures through our school, so our early order on th 3rd I don't expect to go out immediately. I would think we'll start seeing some out there next week or so. No reason to lie about it on REDs part. Be a little patient. We've all waited this long to just get an order in. My hope is just for an early Christmas present.

Don't expect to hear about everything that happens in RED's world here on Reduser. Not everybody is a forum hound, not everybody self-promotes among their peers. Some of us just get the gear as soon as we can, and get on with using it And that doesn't mean I won't share when there's valuable insight to be had.

There's a fine line between swagger and hubris. Jim and RED have certainly earned the right to a bit of the former, but that's not to say they've never been guilty of the latter. IMHO, that's how half-baked ideas like the RED One's mini-BNC connectors, enormous EVFs supported by flimsy Noga arms, etc. end up on shipping products instead of being axed at the focus group stage.

I'm sure for every DP who enthuses about EPIC's image quality and compact size, there's at least one AC muttering about inscrutable design decisions like front-facing mini-jack audio connectors, no way (yet) to use the groovy new EVF and touch screen LCD at the same time, etc. And probably an accessories manufacturer rubbing his hands with glee (when was the last time anybody saw an R1 that didn't have an ET Breakout Box stuck to its side like a barnacle?).

I really don't think it helps that anyone with nerve enough to point out areas where the Emperor is — perhaps — a wee bit under-dressed can count on being vilified here as a troll, naysayer or basher. My Mercedes 240D was the best car I ever owned, but that doesn't necessarily mean I also think vacuum powered locks on a diesel powered vehicle are a good idea.

I don't find it strange at all. This thread is really conjecture based on fear, rather than genuine concern based on fact. Why?

It's November 19th!

Surely the time to question the ship date, if that's your inclination, would be December the 2nd? Even then, you'd somehow have to know that you were a day 1 customer for the Canon mount package. Since November 3rd there's been zero from Red to suggest anything other than things are on course. I don't understand where the speculation is coming from.

Scarlet is my first Red purchase. 3 1/2 years of mining this forum has told me one thing - don't chase dates. Another thing I learned, is that I've got to pay attention to Recon to know what's going on. All my questions are answered there.

Red have stated that they are slammed right now, this was anticipated by all of us well before the 3rd. That's too bad, but no surprise. Read the important posts from Recon - you'll know what to expect. In fact, it was all said on the night of the launch. I ordered as soon as I could (early early Nov 4th), but I'm expecting it to turn up when Red tell me it'll be here.

Until then, I'm going to relax and enjoy the anticipation.

I Customers should have every right to complain and critique. I am not intending to be disrespectful.

Of course, the flip side of that is that you actually have to be a customer, and there has to be an agreement between formentioned customer and Red relating to the ordering and delivery of any product that has been paid for (in full - deposits don't count.) Are you a Red customer? if so - Kudos on your Epic/RedOne/Scarlet.

Complaint and critique are very different things.customers can complain, everyone else can critique.

If it's "critique" why is the thread's title so inflammatory ("Calling Reds bluff" - I mean, really?) and why do you basically call RED liars? Don't know about you, but where I live that's not even slightly disrespectful - it's offensive as hell. Now, if in two weeks you've heard nothing - fine. But don't start whining after a measly day that there is no footage out there or that people aren't rushing to post "I GOT ONE! I GOT ONE!!!"

The best part about RED ramping up delivery on all cameras will be the eventual dissolution of ridiculous threads such as this one. Truly a waste of bandwidth.

I sure would love to see reduser get back to sharing ideas, troubleshooting, sharing expertise and experiences.

Hair trigger, reactive, and negative chatter is diluting the experience.

There's critiqueing and criticizing and there is straight up accusing them of lying. "Bluff" is only a bluff when it's a game and you're encouraged to lie. "Bluff" in the context of a business customer relation ship == lying.

Even then, it's not unusual for companies to have a "soft launch". And I'm happy to hear that 16 camera orders are going out. Less happy to know that there are 16 camera orders ahead of me haha.

Panasonic shipped one HVX200 at the end of Dec. 2005 and they didnt start shipping en-mass until Feb/Mar. 2006.

I'm sure we'll see a bunch of Scarlets going out in a couple days...RED has always been up front that hitting shipping dates is their biggest problem. "Always late but worth the wait".

Scarlet announced > Scarlet deemed vapourware and a scam
Scarlet made available to order > Claimes that Red's lied to their potential customers about what Scarlet 'is' (ie Epics little sister)
Red posts the first Scarlet is in the hands of a customer > Red are accused of misleading reduser.net about how many have been shipped.

Give it a few weeks and you can add to that:
Scarlet videos flood youtube > Canon users claim Scarlet obviously can't be better than a Canon 5dII because it looks the same on youtube

If a company like RED black lists there potential customers that speak negatively at times or voice concerns about there products or company, this is weird, why is RED so afraid of ppl speaking there mind so much so that they bann ppl. Love the spunk of the OP but I'm here playing with my Epic that, as of last night, has Playback, Killer Edge Focus, 3K@150FPS@8:1 (clean!), with Canon AF on the near horizon. Just shot some moody footage with a 50mm 1.2 in available light, now looking at it after applying the Alchemy Film EFX and all I can say is: I feel bad for Peter and those who do not yet share in the RED experience that is washing all over my body right now like warm maple syrup from heaven. I am a human pancake in paradise.

Technically and production wise, after Epic . . . little sister Scarlet is a piece of cake. It will come my friend.

Well, from what I have seen in the last few years, if a negative comment was all it took to get blacklisted, there would thousands less posters on this forum.
