Calling Red's bluff

Does anyone find it strange that the ship date for Scarlet X with PL mount was November 17, yet from what I can tell only one person has received their camera. I haven't even heard of anyone else getting shipping notifications. Now, I'm sure there are a lot of Scarlet orders. I put an order in shortly after announcement, yet so many of us (even those that ordered right away) have yet to hear anything from Red on our orders.

This just seems like a PR move to improve their image when it comes to delivering. They give out one Scarlet on the announced delivery date, then make a big spectacle of it with pictures and all so that it appears they delivered on time. I say they're bluffing.

I would love for someone from Red to chime in and prove me wrong though. All of us so badly want to believe in you, but it's hard when there are so many disappointments along the way.

Tonaci picked his Scarlet up from the Irvine location. Most people ordering Scarlets got fedex 2 day shipping, so today/this afternoon should be when we start getting the I GOT IT! pictures.

Isn't it strange though that no one else picked up their camera? There are enough of these cameras on order that I'm sure more people are around LA and Irvine than Tonaci. I haven't seen anyone post that they have received their shipping notification either.

Who's to say the first dozen even bother posting about it? It might take a few days before someone starts sharing...

Keep in mind the official shipping date is Dec. 1st. Nov. 17th was only for people who order Scarlet without the Canon mount...I don't know how many did that.

Red's delivered what couldn't be done...and as i keep telling some others that doubt red..."i've been shooting RAW now for 4 years". So if Scarlet is a month late (base on latest announcement---yeah, we know it's really WAY late).....oh well....no PR, no sales....c'mon, it's all part of the hype....gotta have it so people come and then want it.

....and i'd be surprised if you "really" doubt what rED can do and if the Scarlet really is going to ship....you know it is and will.....you sound like many others....want it last year....we all do. So patience grasshopper....you want to shoot 5k RAW, get Epic. Or step back and wait for Scarlet.....and one day it will show up.

I never said I doubted what Red can do, and I don't need to get an Epic because I already own one. I was calling their bluff about release date of PL Scarlet. I'd be astonished if only two people bought one.

Just because they say it will start shipping, doesn't mean they'll be shipping a lot. 1 unit out is still "starting" they never claimed they had 5,000 units in their closet ready to go out on that day. Plus there is a good chance a lot more people ordered the canon mount version than the PL.

Yeah I would just love a little more communication from Red. I'm not even expecting mine to ship right away, but it would be good to get some communication from them and at least acknowledge my order. I half wondered if my order actually went through, until I checked my Red account and saw it was listed as a recent order.

If they start shipping Nov 17 but only a few at a time that's fine, but that's deceiving because they announced it as if it was going to be a bigger release. Being late is fine as long as proper expectations are set. That is one thing they have never done well.

If you go to the big 33 page thread where they're talking about being in line, I think there are a couple people in there who have gotten shipment notifications. Go prove your point elsewhere, everyone who ordered knew what they were signing up for. Try searching the board before getting yourself put on the "list".

lol I'm sorry but this forum's intention is to provide a place for support and discussion. If you're trying to make a place where people are blacklisted and shunned then please step off your pedestal and join the rest of us that are trying to discuss and debate respectfully. The search tools on the forum are not always helpful, and if I have to review a 33 page thread before every post to avoid insult from someone who would like to put themselves above others then this is not a place to come for help at all. No knowledge that you have ever gives you a right to put anyone on a "list".

2 weeks 3 weeks who cares, look what we have gotten in return for being patient, playback, 4k, nice sensor, raw etc..., i hope 120fps in 2k update
Red gave me a chance of a lifetime. Don't get me wrong I hate waiting, i can't even sleep, last night I stayed up to see scarlet footage till 3 am,
however every week there is amazing updates, upgrades, you can see that red wants u s to be happy and more, red deserves a nobel prize!

I see no problem with being critical of a company which I support by purchasing their products. That is the nature of running a good business. Customers should have every right to complain and critique. I am not intending to be disrespectful. However from one person to another, I think respect is to be expected.

I think they revolutionize the whole film industry by pushing 4k-5k 6 years ago, why do you think alexa, canon etc are fallowing the trend after 5 years.
Just like apple with the iphone and ipad, now we have droid microsft pad bla bla. Red was first and they deserve recondition.
