I'm praying that Jim's promised "surprise" will be in those lines; or at least if we could get to put down a deposit. I need that camera so bad.

I'm not whining (well maybe I am) but what about the people who can't afford the cost and or the time to travel to NAB?
Not really fair to everyone else.
Just a thought.:smile5:
I just hope that we have at least one day's warning - It would be terrible if Jim just said, "Surprise, we're taking deposits right now". I'd have to shift money around to get it accessible and that could take several hours to be approved...
Alternatively I will probably sign up for a credit card that gets frequent flyer points, because I could get almost a ticket to Sydney for the price of the Scarlet kit.
With the RED ONE they were taking orders on the phone as well as on the NAB floor, so I don't think that would be a big deal. But certianly it would be a lot more fair to just do it all on the internet so everybody gets the same go.
I hope RED have a very solid, distributed backend for their online store, or are beefing it up now, because otherwise when Scarlet orders open, the RED site will be crushed in a few minutes!

Unlikely. Same demand for any new camera. I would suggest buying a 60D in the interim and learning the craft as I see your website is lacking video content.
My web site lacks footage mainly because 1) I haven't got around to putting any up and 2) in all my paid video work, the copyright goes to the client, so I'm not allowed to post that stuff...
Couldn't you negotiate the use of small clips for "portfolio" purposes? My web site lacks footage mainly because 1) I haven't got around to putting any up and 2) in all my paid video work, the copyright goes to the client, so I'm not allowed to post that stuff...
