  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Buy Fs7 or Scarlett ?

There are so many great choices available these days.

I only have personal experience with Red cameras but IMO I would go Raven over FS7.

However, if your budget is being stretched at $10k the two other cameras I would look at, Canon C100 and the Red One mx. Both seem to be a hell of a lot of camera for what they sell for these days.

For the OP, you are not considering cameras in the same price range. Neither the Scarlet or the Raven are $5000 cameras. They are more like $12000 cameras by the time you fit them out with all the necessary accessories to have a truly well operating system. An FS7 or an FS5 is far cheaper. I also don't agree in terms of color science that you necessarily get a cheap, videoish look. If you work in SLOG you can obtain very filmic quality images. I still own an F3 that looks far better in low light or for skin tones than the RED Epic's that I frequently work with. I know the workflows of both cameras and grade other people's projects as well. It all depends on your needs and willingness to perfect your workflow.

Or the Sony F3 ;-) Better camera than either of those two for his needs, and much cheaper! Having said that, if anybody handed me either a C100 or R1 MX for free I wouldn't say no! :-P And I have shot with both.
