Burning a hole...

All this has got me pretty stoked to see what up the sleeve of the Grand Wizard. My Epics are begging me daily for a serf to send into the line of Trophy truck fire.

"We love a good fist fight." - That's because you keep bringing assault weapons ;-)

Red is announcing amazing things on the 3rd.

They are having one hell of a party.

Finally we get to see what is in development.

E.

(pay attention?)

Support you local library.

[What is the sound of a ten thousand fist-fight?]

OK so is there part of the RED “platform” that is almost completely opened up so developers and others can basically hack the camera anyway we wish? Just image what you could do or could be done...

I think you're wrong and I hope you're wrong.

RED would turn into a tech support company trying to figure out why everyone's hacks crash the camera, and Scarlets would pick up a horrible reputation as buggy, unreliable devices.

That is, unless RED would use a very restrictive curated App Store-like approach. It could work, but then everyone would whine how "closed" it is...

Hit my financial checkpoint, and just sorted all my tax for last financial year and I'm in the clear. The planets have aligned - It's been one hell of a wait - bring it on.

Did I just read 3rd party apps for inside the camera? Its like the iPad of Cameras...a whole new market for for RED to tap into. Its actually not a bad idea, if you think about it.

I have the best girlfriend in the world. Ever since we've been together, there's one topic that she's always heard - SCARLET.

Last weekend I asked her to marry me (she said yes), and we set a date for next November. As is normal, the talk of how much to pay for the wedding started, and right out of the gate she said:
"No matter what, the first thing is for you to get your camera. Then we'll start budgeting the wedding"

I think in that one sentance, Scarlet became the first 'acceptable' mistress that any man could ever have...

Sounds like my lovely wife, married to my work, having an affair with my wife :-)

I sure as hell wouldn’t, consider how limited things are right now? Anything is WAY better than nothing.

Basically good design is good design, that applies to software architecture too.

This is not Rocket Science…

If a deeper feature needs to be accessible then that’s a special “negotiation”, but having a decent toolkit that the world can run with, that’s a different matter all together. Android seems to be working…Goggle have all kinds of things up their sleeve. Gone are the days of the dumb proprietary devices that can only be developed for and controlled by the “Gods” behind the wall.

No more I say!

Cheers,

Eric

(I have to go and do stuff see yah later!)

I love it. It's great to see REAL free-market competition making a comeback... keep it movin'!

It is burning a hole in my head waiting to announce on Nov. 3rd.

I am so excited to announce that I can hardly stand it. Most of you know that it is hard for me to keep a secret. It kills me.

Jim

You could always announce it before Nov. 3rd... Just putting that out there.

I am so excited. I am hoping by some things you have said about forever being back-ordered and how big of an announcement it is means a few things...

- Scarlet will be quite inexpensive compared to the competition's products (Scarlet will be RED's loss leader)
- The capabilities of the Scarlet will leave everyone else trying to figure out how you did it and take years to catch up
- Scarlet can later be upgraded to a better brain as well

Just try and get a video of you guys announcing it up soon after. :)

I suscribed to this forum 4 and a half years ago. I loved Red philosophy since the beginnig. But I was not prepared for this. I was watching and waiting. Now I´m ready. And Red too. Happy days. Thanks to all Red team. You push the industry.

I thought the EPIC was big news... How can a 2/3 inche chip camera with lessor specs be bigger than the EPIC launch... ?

Really?

I see the Scarlet as the first Digital Model-T of the film industry. There were already expensive high end cars in the world before the Model T. That is not what made the Model T revolutionary. It was supplying to the masses. The Scarlet will give a professional camera to the indie film makers. It will be a lot of "firsts" that the upcoming film makers will have access to. (For the first time.) For the average person starting out, the hobbiest, the student, the small studio, the Scarlet is the big news. These people may never have access to to a $50K camera.

With cannon pushing their date back will RED do the same? As much as I want to know what is going to be announced, the 5th of November has that Guy Fawkes thing going for it.
