shot all day ad it seems that we get far less runtime then before 2.2 and the camera feels very hot to the touch.... Could not get through a 12 hour day with 3 red packs and a red charger.... Not the case before latest build of 15..... Ideas?

tested three 15 minutes takes and the temperature meter on the top of the cam was showing us 43 degrees celsius.

In Build 15 v2.2.1 fan default setting is AUTO, this is a combination of SILENT mode during recording and VARIABLE while not recording. It is recommended by RED for extended duration dialog recordings. In SILENT the fan runs at its minimum speed and most useful when the ambient temperature is below 60°F/15°C...

Can you define "latest build of 15" please?

Power usage and boot times can vary build to build. A good analogy is pouring a mixture of rocks and sand into a bucket. At first it looks full, but give it a little shake and time to settle down, then you can put some more in ...

.. I have run 3 hour+ continuous records without overheating.

I dont have overheating issues. Its just that before 2.2.1 the camera did not get hot when idling. With 2.2.1 the Red is "really nice to have next to your cheek in a cold winter shoot"-warm.

No issue here except that "more warm" might translate into "get more batteries".

All the best,

Jochen
