Ok, so you've bought a Scarlet-X.

You're running it at 3K, maybe with HDRx.

What glass (Nikon or Canon) do you stick on the front to get as close as possible to the Scarlet 8X Fixed you really wanted? :-)

Mike

Not sure it's the best for 3K (depending how wide you desire) I'll be rocking a Canon 24-70mm L lens when I need a zoom.

I was going to suggest the Nikon 24-70mm; great glass

While no the same as the Fixed 8x zoom my first zoom will be the Canon EFS 17-55mm f2.8. Might get the 70-200mm next.

M4/3 glass @ 3K would bring it as close to scarlet fixed as you can.
Except that it does not fit.........:emote_headwall:

This of course assumes that you weren't planning to use Scarlet with the Compact Primes, but this is a fair question.

So the Epic sensor is 30mm wide. The aspect ratio makes the crop factors different for the width and height when compared to 35mm, but focusing on width the normal Epic "crop factor" is 1.2x. That is cropped another 1.66x when you window to 3K, so the effective crop factor relative to 35mm full frame is 1.92x.

The Scarlet 8X was supposed to have a 7.5mm-63mm lens, which was roughly equivalent to a 28mm-224mm lens on 35mm full frame.

SO to replicate that in a 3K windowed Scarlet-X would require a lens with a focal length range of roughly 14mm to 116mm. Can't recall seeing anything quite like that, but there may be one out there.

Nikon 18-200 DX might be a good bet...

what about the new Canon CN-E30-300 T2.95-3.7L ... they have to be put onto something! hehe!

I wish they would have given a price point on these lenses.

What about the "touch-to-focus" and "focus-tracking" features. are these still in? so you would definitely want to have fully automated glass to come close to the fixed.
