  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Build 4 is almost here....

indeed.. selectable to flip either just the video or both video and menus..

now when we got flip, can we have flip for each EVF port.... :)

it would be very handy to be able to be able to have the viewfinder upside down and the touch upright and so on. Or even have SDI flipped but evf's upright.
There would be x2 as many ways to mount the touch and EVF... and even the camera.

Look at the picture... see the REAR LCD pull down menu? I assume you'll be able to swtich that to any EVF port.

Well designed products should not need a users' manual, or not much of one. The only thing I ever needed to actually look at in the manual for the RED One was the false-color exposure scale. And that changed once or twice over time, too, if memory serves. It was deemed too complex I think and we now have "exposure check". Same thing, but not so many colors to decipher.

I honestly don't think I've read any of the EPIC operations guide. Had my M well before any such guide existed anyway and I think I had the X before the guide too....

When it all comes down to it, you either understand the principles of using a camera and exposure or you don't. If you do, it doesn't take long to learn the primary operations of the camera. Where people seem to need the most help with shooting RED is not in the menus or camera operation. It's in the little nuances of exposure and how to squeeze the most out of this platform. Then what do we do with our acquired images in post? How do we balance and color correct, sharpen, process and output with the best quality and all that. Using the camera? That's the easy part. Of course, it still takes a talented eye to acquire good images consistently. That goes for any camera.

Epic Guides were well before any X's shipped , The first X's must have shipped with 1.67 or thereabouts IIRC.

ha ha i am a bit of a girl like that.. This one matches my car. I deserve ridicule :)
Jarred Remember these? It takes a real man to mod his Red ;) Love the army green.

I'm very curious if we'll see some "groundbreaking" features for Scarlet in this massive build :wink5:

One thing I would like is continuous playback of clips, so I don't have to start each clip manually.
I have used my Samurai to make Prores files in real time (specially of slowmo footage) on short turnaround projects and its a pain to have to sit and start each new clip manually (altough it beats waiting for software render without a RR)

It will let you know if your current Sensor [T]emperature or [E]xposure Time is too far off of your current calibration parameters.

It will make my year to know that there will be the possibility to store multiple (more than one) user black shading calibration.yes. I guess it's a question. :) david

Not yet... but there will be options to import/export user calibration files to/from the camera.
