  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Build 21...

I love 4.5K and i am going to use it in an upcoming project!

It was also very illuminating to use this format as i realized that my RED 18-50 is not going to be enough for Epic-X. The lens is going soft on the frame's left side. You can hardly notice at 4K but it's obvious at 4.5K

Hmmm...

According to Red.com, the sensor is 24.4m wide, is that the old 4k recording or the theoretical limit that 4.5k almost hits?

I couldnt find an answer to this. I realize it's techy, but I'd still like to know if the old 4k was smaller than 24.4m across and we've just now hit this? Or was the old 4k 24.4m and we're now wider?

Since S35 is 24.89m across, it seems we're just now there (I mistakenly thought Red 4k was s35 all along).

The 24.4mm sensor width is for the 4520 pixel active area. The photosites are 5.4um (.0054mm) in size.

RED One 4K is indeed smaller than Super35. It's actually real close to 35mm Academy spec. Mysterium-X 5K on the upcoming cameras will be larger than Super35 by a bit, that's why there's been all the recent discussion over 31mm+ image circles and 5K coverage.

Okay, then the new 4.5k would be 24.184mm wide and 4k is 22.111mm wide, roughly a 9% wider image. Seem right?

Ok so aside from being able to shoot 4.5K
what else does build 21 do or have that 20 and previous builds dont.
What else is new please
anybody.

of course thank you needed that.

We have another feature coming up that we are producing. I guess we can do it on build 21 but we still have 30 pages left from another feature that we are picking up after, we can still shoot 4K 16x9 right?

Sure you can shoot at 4K 16x9 but at 36 MB not 42.
