  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Sorry, I think I just didn't realize that the new RA! was changing the color space upon re-loading the clip.

I'm using a clip from build 15 and when it loads in, RA! defaults to REDSpace/REDSpace. When I click on Metadata, it reverts back to CameraRGB/REC70, which I believe were the Camera defaults back then.

Just was a bit confusing at first, but now it makes sense.

i just shot a dance piece in extreme low light conditions; when i play back in camera i see all the clips except the one where the camera stalled due to overheat and where i had to power cycle the camera; nevertheless in RA i can see only my last take when opening the R3D direct from Red Drive, when i try to open the R3D from my back up drive: nothing !
So, how can i get all my clips into my machine ?

Monitor glitches when magnifying(every 2nd-3rd time)

Loads of crashes during playback-had some pre-build 20- but now it happens almost everytime. 4k 16:9, rc36, redram. Something Ive never seen before, half of the image(upper half) turns blue, rest is ok. If I press exit and play again everything goes back to normal.

colours in rec709 are for some reason way off when shooting with HMIs, there is a greenish hue that doesnt exist when viewed in RA with rec709.
Colour-wise redspace is closer to the real thing than rec709 but I need 709 for exposure.

The bug where superwhite colour in false colour(magenda) doesnt exist is back. Now everything above 100 IRE is red.

No headphones out.


Love the blacks though...
 
I don't have headphones out either but I'm still on B18 and the headphones do come up eventually if I keep toggling between recording sound and not. I have the playback issue on 18 as well. the green HMI might be that you have a high green spike in one or all of them, or maybe your tint got adjusted either in camera or in post. Anyone else having this issue?

Any other B20 issues besides ones that deal with the Birger mount?
 
I was out shooting a commerial this moring and gambled and used build 20. It worked out great. BUT I had one "o shi.." moment when the LCD suddenly started flickering like crazy between picture, black and colorbars, then then cam crashed and shutdown. It reboted and was ok, but the fan went crazy and was on all time. I re-installed 20, and then the fan went back to normal.
 
Actually the colour shift happens when Im shooting below 5600k, ie HMIs with quarter CTO or tungsten. Most of the lamps are new and we have a colour meter on set.

I have a feeling that false colour is slightly off, will check it against build 17 this weekend.

LCD Flicker on magnify-

Just a heads up that I am experiencing LCD flicker when I use the magnify function to check focus. It seems to only appear on the sides of the LCD, and it is not consistently happening- maybe every 2nd to 3rd time will it happen.

Also, sometimes when switching back out of magnify, the LCD goes black. I have to then go back into magnify, and then back out of it again to get the picture back.

Neither of these issues seem to be affecting anything else in the camera, they are just visual annoyances.

Thanks Petros. Let me know how the test goes. I live and die by false color and I would hate to have it lose some color depth. Do you get any issues with the camera switching from Rec 709 to Redspace sometimes after doing a playback?

Ryan, I get the same flicker issue on build 18.

Well, playback has been a no-go for the past week, the camera hangs everytime so I wouldnt know. In general I use redspace for colour evaluation and rec709 for exposure with this build.

I am also having this flashing problem on the right and left side of frame when magnified. At first I thought is was a feature, to let us know that we were indeed zoomed in.

Yeah, same here. But it went away when I activated open gate. Project 4k, 16:9, 36RC, 25p, both evf, lcd 7" and an external monitor through hdmi on. The glitching is visible on all monitors when in magnifying mode.
 
The "flashing" when punched in for focus is not new with B20 - I've been ignoring it for months now. It did start post audio upgrade though, along with my cradle chewing up batteries and not working properly...
 
On build 16 & 17 I did not have the flickering issue, but since I went to build 20, it is there ... at least I'm not the only one...
 
I feel like my white balance in daylight is off. Not off looking as it seems to render a very neutral image with AWB but the numbers I'm getting are in the 4000º-4500º Kelvin range even off clouds in the sky. My D3 (i don't have a color meter) is choosing 5000º-5500º as I would expect. Thoughts?

Can we have thumbnails at playback mode and not only last clip which make browsing back clip by clip. My 10 years old Nikon Coolpix 990 has it.

I'm not getting any audio through headphones suddenly. Worked fine beginning of day, now not so much.
