In the major markets [LA, NY, etc.] on large shows, I desperately hope that no DIT ever does an Epic job with a laptop. Ever.

What tasks are you typically doing when you work as a DIT? I am curious if you are doing more or less than I typically do.

I typically

1. help get cameras set-up and software configured
2. set-up media for shoot
3. trouble shoot any camera problems
4. download media and verify
5. work with post team to recommend best post workflow for project
6. best light color correct footage
7. render out offline files for post staff (some times)

I have had friends in Local 600 tell me they had to stop downloading media, because camera department sees that as loader and then assumes DIT is the junior guy and tries to use him to run errands.
