Very cool, I love all the side mounting options!

This week I had to mount wireless transmitter, down converter, lock-it, and batts in my epic.

Prost,
Rich

very nice. do you guys have a weight for that by any chance ?
According to VF website the weight of the complete kit - top and bottom plates with 4 sidearms and 15mm LW bracket is 1.7 lbs (785 grams).

For those who are also waiting for the Quick Release version of the bottom plate, have you tried using the regular bottom plate with a Red Epic mounting plate attached?

http://www.red.com/store/rail-components/product/mounting-plate-epic-2

I was going to wait for the Quick Release version before ordering the FMJ package. But if the Quick Release version has been put on the back burner, I'm thinking the regular bottom plate with Epic mounting plate should work for now.

Would be great to be able to keep the DSMC handle on. Not that its a massive issue replacing it, just thinking about that REDvolt power until the pro module comes out......

If you like keeping the side handle on you can just forego installing sidearms on that side of the camera. All of the other parts are compatible with the DSMC side handle without interference.

Side arm spacers would be a bonus :).

I plan to use the cage with the RED DSMC QR plate and light weight support - at present that means drilling out the threads in the QR plate and using longer 3/8" bolts ( not easy to find in metric countries). If there is enough demand, Curt has said VF would manufacture custom bolts that could be used with the RED QR plate without having to take a file/ drill to it. Does anyone else need the same?

That's the normal Epic Ti PL mount, my RED port cap went missing on a job but came back with a P+S cap. The next job it came back as a RED cap again.

[shrug] Close enough.

I see.

Also forgot to say that BW-FMJ looks great especially with RED Pro EVF mounted.

Brook,

Did you ever get confirmation from Red that all of these accessories will fit the Epic-X as well?

It seems that it would ... but it could be an expensive assumption.

Kris, while you are correct that there will eventually be no differences between the M and X [dimensionally speaking], RED has announced that there will be a redesign to the top of the camera body with the X's release. Ms will be returned to RED to be updated to the new design over time. Since RED has not shown us what the new Epic body looks like, we can only speculate at this point. We will not know for certain until RED reveals the new design.
