What is the most cost effective and best solution to monitor from the HDSDI output from the red rocket card that also has an inbuilt waveform monitor/ vectorscope built in and the pictures from the unit are good enough for first light grade?

I currently own a grade 1 SONY glass BVM (COST OVER $25K AUD NEW)
in my main online suite

but i really want to buy something that the pictures look good so I dont have to do a FULL grade in the online after converting the files on a different machine using RED ROCKET.

Needs to be 17inch and be 1920x1980 native with HDSDI.

Sony's 17inch monitors STILL ARE NOT FULL HD neither are PANASONIC!!

I bought a MARSHALL 17inch quad split that is full HD as a field monitor but it isn't good enough in the colour and contrast spectrum as my glass BVM.

All the high end post houses in LA now use Panasonic Plasma's to replace CRT for color critical work... however the smallest are now 54" so a bit large for on set.

why the 17" limit?

I already have a GRADE 1 Broadcast 24" Sony in the MAIN suite.

I just wanted a small 17" Plasma/lcd whatever in one of the edit suites that has the RED ROCKET CARD. The quality of the Monitor can be Sony PVM grade, its just Sony and Panasonic's 17" monitors are 1440 x whatever.

I dont have the physical room for anything bigger in that room thats why 17". And I only need it for a "Best Light" grade. But it definately needs to have waveform/vector and if im lucky GAMMUT.

Most of the high end Post houses that I know in Sydney still have glass.
I do and I also have a sony 46" XBR on the wall of the main grading room to check how the pictures look like on consumer tvs. (VERY RECOMMENDED!!!)

We grade so the pictures look beautiful on both.

I have been considering the Sony BVM 24" LED broadcast monitor, but im hoping that the next generation monitor from them will come out soon IE 4k!

My current glass BVM was the last one sony ever made and is about 2 years old. Im lucky that it came with the DUAL LINK 444 RGB card.

I dont need anything like that for the RED ROCKET card. Just something that looks ok.

second vote for fsi monitor. It will also do an easy pixel for pixel mapping up to 2k for anything critical. Better contrast ratio, higher resolution, lighter and cheaper than the Panasonic 17" and much better scopes and luminance features.
